Are we sure this is a sequel and not a stand alone project?

It's definitely not a sequel. It's very loosely a prequel, if it's any -quel at all. I do think it's likely in the same universe or at least a related one, because of the choco reference & certain stylistic similarities, and as for differences such as the floating HP/etc. bars could just be missing due to technology improvements and changes.

Of course, the same universe here could simply be the same mangaka's brain. Heh. I like this a lot & hope the other chapters get done sometime as folks can.

Small reference to the chocolate metaphor:

Not much continuity for a sequel, considering the absence of the bars and all. But we've only seen 2 chapters, so who knows.

they have hp/mp/sp bars at all times lol.

I'm with you on that one. That's why i said it doesn't feel like a prequel.  Magic seems to work so differently here compared to WCW.  Then again, magic in WCW doesn't seem to have any commonality or rules anyway so...

For me it won't be a prequel until they doesn't show any kind of relation between both mangas

I guess thinking of WCW as having "modernized", or a differently developed, magic could make sense. It's just the magic seeming to have different rules / physics that is really throwing me. Well, already decided to just read it and move on with life, so. . . xD

there isn't much to get - Mizunagi Ryuu made this first, then she made WCW. She set them in the same world, with the same (albeit modernized) magic set to the same rules. WCW isn't so much a sequal to this as much another story set in the same universe - so far as we know at least.

I. . . I don't understand. How is this the same world? The only commonality is that magic exists? (Well, and Mizunaga Ryuu sensei's pretty artz.) o.O

just think of it as a spiritual prequel to WCW, if anything

This manga is from 2006, so rather than a prequel, it's her previous work set in the same universe. WCW started serialization in 2010 but if I understand correctly its one-shot had already been published in 2004.

Hmmm I don't know about this, sometimes I question the need of a prequel

It doesn't feel like a prequel, but it could be interesting.

If they are from the same setting (as we normally mean with "prequel") we may learn juicy stuff about WCW mechanics

Does anyone know how long this actually is in raw?

wish the quality were a little better...

oh well thanks fancyclad :)

Did the mangaka make this before WcW?

Yes, this is the Prequel of Witch Craft Works.

It is okay, but there is a bit of..disconnect that doesn't quite make it readable. Modern concepts, unreadable character direction, lack of a proper enemy, poor characterizations (there are no instances of poverty so far. This is a must in many storys like this) I give this the rating of Meh..

certainly does look interesting, let's see where it goes

so far so good, seems interesting so going to follow
