You need to shift the frame you're coming to this with. You're looking at it as a martial arts manga and finding it doesn't measure up. But it isn't a martial arts manga. It's a silly comedy with romance.
Realism is not remotely the point; for the most part neither is story. Wimp MCs are a bad fit for martial arts manga, but not for this. Where usually, wimp MCs are used for the weird shounen "predatory harem" thing, here the wimp MC is necessary to allow him to be stuffed into the comic situations, which for me is a much better excuse.
And the thing is, it's pretty funny. And, as someone pointed out, the girl is cute. Good enough for me, especially since I'd say it's actually getting funnier. I was worried it might just repeat a bunch of jokes on the premise and get tired, but it's bringing in these complicated and silly situations.
