Wait what, advancements of all sorts suddenly in this one chapter? That's weird, I thought this was one of those stalling mangas I'd give one chapter to make up and that wouldn't work but no, these two might actually get to do some growing up soon. So I'm sticking around for that.
The baby caring tho', if this isn't a naïve portrayal I'm not sure what is. But that's shôjo manga for you, I guess. ^^;
Ugh, I hate how IRL that kind of setup would be a complete failure(Hitting ALL the tropes: pregnant at 19, no education, no steady employment(the guy even wants to be a musician lol, the most trope-ish of unreliable jobs), zero fiscal responsibility or any responsibility for that matter, etc.) but it's all working out because ~love~(ironically, even though they quite obviously DON'T love one another)
That's shoujo manga for you... fuck that.
I enjoy Yumi, though I think the manga is just not realistic enough with the strain babies put on the parents. They're your heart and you'd forgive them anything. You'd throw your life away for them in a heartbeat, but they're so very exhausting.
I think this manga could stand to be slightly darker for those reasons. But I guess it's Shoujo not Josei...
What, AN UPDATE?!
Two things basically, methinks. First, Japan seems to be old fashioned about that, it feels like attitudes from decades ago. Second, it doesn't make much of a story, let alone a squishy touchy-feely romance one. "So they went to a clinic, and then kept on just the way things had been except they were more careful with birth control." It falls flat, it doesn't require personal growth or facing massive challenges or any of that stuff.
It's sort of like "Why are the romance protagonists so often so stupid in how they interact with their beloved, allowing misunderstandings to endanger the relationship?" Because doing things the stupid way creates plot.
unfortunately you're unlikely to find that title on Batoto
on different note why are there so few where they actually have an abortion
Typical conflicts you could expect from a manga about early pregnancy.
Maybe I would've liked Kamisama no Orgy better.
