Has it been 3000 years?!

So I guess the group doing this disbanded?

No, Overload Scans is still very much alive. They just dropped this project.

The anime is much better.
Indeed; the anime took the "Angel Fix" story that made up the first volume of the novel series and split things up, putting the bulk of that story as the climax of the series since it is the outright darkest story that got used for the anime. This has pretty much shuffled Angel Fix into the background and started up with the second novel. I'm curious how the manga will go over Angel Fix, if it does try to do so. It'd be a shame if it didn't.

I've enjoyed all versions so far, though this is the one that got me into the series. It's ultimately a very dark, unhappy, and depressing story despite the silly NEET-focused premise and occasional antics, and I think it really benefits from the contrast. Heck, in the first novel Alice implies her family wanted to keep her locked up and married off to someone against her will, and ran away to the position she's in now. Not your usual "loli" character background.
Rather than the anime being a prequel and the manga being a sequel it's more like the timelines are completely differrent. In the anime Ayaka? doesn't get into all that trouble till the very end while in the manga it already happened, in other words it was his first case in the manga while in the anime the case with Meo and a buch more has already happened before Ayaka gets in trouble.
The anime was a prequel, and the manga is the sequel, im really glad they are translating it, the anime was good for me, yes it wasn't nothing out of the normal thing, but it had the normal touch in it, it had our daily life portrayed in it, thats why, I like it, it shows sides of the world that we are not accustomed to, the neets, drug dealers, prostitution, yakuza and all of that with a reality touch.

Thanks for the translations Overload Scans.
Nothing thrilling, but the characters are worth some praise. They have more depth than your usual shounen detective story. Or any of your usual shounen, for that matter.
I'll read this for the characters. They're worth at least that.
I have mixed feelings about the anime. imo, the arcs it showed were pretty boring save for the last one which was supposed to be the first one. But I absolutely love the characters and the anime introduced me to this series so I can't exactly say I love or hate it. Also thanks to the anime, buying the novels became a part of my list of things to do once my JP improves xD
I've watched the anime and I was surprisingly impressed. Loved Alice's character. Hopefully this is really a continuation of the anime. I want to know what happens next to Ayaka. In the anime, it wasn't really sweet stuff, except for the cute moments wherein Alice loses her cool due to embarrassment in front of Narumi.
It's not boring at all. If you read it and try to anticipate what happens, it's really interesting. On the other hand, what I'm speaking about is the novel, not the manga itself. By the way: there already is an anime about this. And the manga does not start from the beginning (as you can guess, it would be strange a strart where Ayaka is already in bed), but from the second arc. For the ones who want to know what happened in the first arc, it's simple:
Spoiler
It's a really boring manga..
Yeah, human trafficking and prostitution would make anything more moe.
Af if there weren't enough loli manga out there. I can well see this becoming another moe anime... hopefully it is boring enough to escape that.
