Kind of weak. When the stories are focused on feelings of abandonment and being unloved, the tone feels appropriately empty, but the reunions turn out to be so flat and unconvincing that the atmosphere doesn't change at all. Rather than a moment of clarity that washes away their previous doubts, it's more like the characters just sunk back into bad relationships instead of moving on to better things. Chapter 4+5 are basically a nightmare, ironically showing the most convincing emotion and affection in the book through the process of justifying a violent rapist preying on a kid he's being paid to help. Too vapid to be good adult romance, wastes too much time to be good porn. The art is consistently good, but would be better off as a series of illustrations.
