Description: The MC is a high school boy named Shinsen Raika, he had his true little sister abducted by a god in a disaster when they were young and was currently standing in the『Academy』on an artificial island in the distant seas.

On the first night, Raika was attacked by the Norse mythological God Brynhildr. who had taken over the body of one of his female classmates. As he was about to be killed, he obtained a special power that lets him give absolute orders to any god using the power of the Eye of Balor.

Using his special power, he stops Brynhildr from killing him and Balor orders her to strip naked as a proof of his power. Raika then uses his power to restore his classmate's personality which had been overwritten by Brynhildr and teams up with her to fight the other gods who had using the other students on the island as hosts in a proxy war, with the hope of finding the god who had abducted his sister many years ago.

Man. This is series is bad. If this was adapted from a light novel, I don't think i'd ever want to read it.

I'll still follow tho.

I want manga adaptations like this to be published in English faster because I don't think a lot of long-time scanlator groups (bless their souls for hanging in there this long) are going to fill out their numbers back to what they were, and if you think this is bad then 3 fourths of the genre need to removed from your to-read list (just like mine lol).

I'm gonna have to agree with you about not reading the light novel though, some of these just do better as a manga than an LN, just like a lot of manga are better left as anime and vice versa.

You know, I think the worst part about this story is that it makes no fucking sense.

The rules that the gods set up mean that the proxy war is to be fought at that island. Therefore the limitation of exposure should mean that the rest of humanity shouldn't have a way to protect themselves.

But here we have two characters that are somehow able to resist magic compelling them to stay out of the proxy war, yet have no clue that there is a proxy war.

Why the fuck do they have the ability to reject the gods without knowing that the gods are even doing anything in the first place.

On top of that, why does the main character have no way of fighting the god, when he can clearly resist them, and yet also not know they are possessing people.

The proxy war and the gods are common knowledge to the populace, and the MC knows the proxies are possessed, he just wants to know which god so he can make a strategy to counter it, his eye of Balor is more of a puppeteer (He bound Brynhildr) and crowd control (he used petrify) ability so far, so he would be stupid to try and "fight" them, when his greatest strength is collecting puppets (gods) and binding them to vessels (naive girls who are easy to manipulate).

I know it's weird that everyone on that island looks so peaceful and without care, and I have no explanation for that other than it's a manga and I've seen that whole (everyone is being placated and herded back into normalcy like sheep) trope a billion times elsewhere.

This is so much better than half the shounen crap on the market, and why are people using Code Geass (Lelouch) as a negative comparison these days? I fucking loved that shit when it first aired and I've rewatched it a few times as well.

This MC is actually using his brain somewhat (which is more than zero be happy with what you get), he's taking action for himself and he doesn't have some stupid mentality like "I'm a good person! and that means I help anyone who asks me and I don't suspect anyone ever because that's what good people do!" and he also doesn't just react to a villain's plans like most shitty protagonists do.

The exposition scenes are cheap and annoying to me though, the explanations are necessary to the story, but they don't need to be so info-dumpy in my opinion.

And lastly for the people complaining about the tropes and cliches, I can understand you, but please take a look at the volume covers and the genre tags up top, it should have been fairly obvious where this was going lol

And remember, it's only a guilty pleasure if you give a shit what other people think of your interests.

Excelent!!!! This manga continues!!!!!!! :)

I don't care about the story, I only follow for the bewbs and nice echi scenes :D

This series suffers from a classic case of "Too much Japanese influence." The idea of multiple pantheons in one universe effectively duking it out is both old and good. Such series as Simon R Green's The Nightside and Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles have helped distinguish the realistic fantasy genre into a masterful blend of both reality and divinity. At least in the Britain and the United States

However, this series is too obsessed with pandering to Japanese teenagers who already understand this shounen LN archetype. By allowing tropes to affect his work, the author gave up any distinguishing features this series could have had.

I obviously love series that incorporate different mythologies and belief systems, especially in a fantasy setting, but shoddily slapping together Code Geass with "Insert popular LN title here" is just such a waste.

I'm not following the story arc here but... whatever. Boobs.

I get a bad feeling from the description, tags and setting.

I have read too many LN/manga with this exact same setting (Magika no Kenshi To Shoukan Maou, Date a live, etc.).

I'll give this a chance and read the first 3 chapters. But I'm prepared for the trash worst.

EDIT: *rolls eyes*. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but still... Fine, I'll click that follow button for the bewbs. Like I always do...

The art is better although the story are very common
At Least I Have Reference for my drawing
"How to draw very thin armor"

.....
Sorry I Mean The LN Art not the Manga

Oh god, this synopsys...i'm scared to read this manga.

Really.

You know if I had a dollar for every description I have come across that has given me cancer, I'd have my own research institute.

I would rather drunk to this than to "Useless MC get killed and then revive + Another World + Game system + Harem"

both are crap... but at least the resurrection trope got us konosuba...

Ugh... Just the description alone will get you drunk. "Academy"+"Artificial Island"+"Battle-Fantasy" = Cringe

It's like the author took the setting of Gakusen Toshi Asterisk (or any of the countless similar works) and Campione, and then put them into a blender.

But the saddest part is that I will still read this. Because it has bewbs. *Sigh*

I'm getting pretty good at finding these.

This is satire, right?

Back in the days of chrome shelled regios it was still fresh...

I'll just greedily follow everything.

The bewbs aren't even that impressive.

Seriously CAT Scans, I'm not sure about my position about saying this but can you guys continue translating Trinity seven instead of this? At least Arata's more entertaining.

Man..... This description.....

Not that I disagree with your general frustrations, friend, but Western publishers very much have accepted drafts of outright ripoffs of The Lord of the Rings before.

I'd like to reiterate that I do share the general view. I like my wish fulfillment fantasies to at least pretend to have, if not originality, at least a tolerable level of self-identity and competence.

At the very least it seems the media pointed out that it copied many things from lord of the rings.

But Japanese media never seems to point out ripoffs in Japanese manga...

Also im pretty sure that ripoffs in western publications are the exception, not the norm. It seems to be the norm in Japanese manga.

Look at all the translated Isekai series on this site for example. With the exception of two or three, all the rest rip each other off shamelessly. That is a massive % of ripoffs.

That was unintentionally hilarious actually. Take a shot for every cringe and cliche you can count in chapter 1 and try not to die of alcohol poisoning. You'll probably die tho
