What are the chances Ryuubi got the name wrong on purpose?

 

Also, does anyone else find it weird how Ryuubi is one letter off from Kyuubi (nine-tailed fox)? And he's tied in with tanukis, which are shapeshifters just like foxes... I wonder if maybe he's actually a fox and there's some sort of rivalry involved between the species. Probably a coincidence though.

Ryuubi means dragon tail when translated directly. Likewise for Kyuubi it is just nine tails without the meaning of fox.Its just that it is frequently associated with fox due to the lore or myth in Japan regarding the 9tailed fox

Why can't we have somebody with a happy backstory? All these stories are making me depressed. 

Anyone with a happy backstory would be doomed to die. Thus creating a tragic backstory for someone else. I really hate situations like this though... Girls loving a guy who would do that to their own people for no reason... Those girls had better have an epicly terrible backstory that he saved them from or I will cringe every time I think about them.

And this to a town of innocent and truthful tanukis who believe anything anyone says. I find it hard to believe that they did anything wrong to the girls.  I'm telling you. Their backstories had better be worse than everyone else's combined. Rape, torture, the whole shebang.  And they had better die anyway.
