small head being stylish is a brainlet conspiracy

I really like this manga, the story is simple but it works pretty well

the characters are great and cute

just look at the sis

Spoiler

but this one I really have to read a little at a time, I kind of feel overwhelmed by too many fashion advices xD
although it kinda makes me feel like they should sell this one near UNIQLO stores and fashion stores, it could really work.

I know this story is mainly about male fashion, but I hope this story gets a female relative and they finally talk about female fashion.

They'd probably have to get an entirely different consultant, since women's fashion seems to be out of MB's wheelhouse. A spinoff series would be cool, though.

Yay!

An update.

Not a big vest wearer though. I had a sueded leather one back in the... a long time ago.

TBH if you want to buy a DW watch you better off get a fake one from ebay since they're the same anyway

Paying 180$ extra for the brand is just pretty fucking dumb since you can get one for like 10$.

to be fair this is a manga, and manga is a form of media

they can't just say what you write here even if it's true to avoid some kind of problem

There is a fine line between educating people about how to look good on a budget and propagating materialism. This last chapter wasn't really educational.

Eh, didn't Kei specifically say he already saved up some money to buy clothes in Tokyo? If it's within his budget I don't see any problems.

I will definitely say that Daniel Wellington is not worth that much. And tbh Kukin is right that a fake in this case is just as good as a real one. If I'm paying that much for a watch I want an automatic movement. But in this case there is a cultural bias because I hear that Daniel Wellington is popular in Asia.

Daniel Wellington, seriously? It's the biggest meme watch out there, and very pricey for what you get.

I feel like the author got not taste. Who really likes DW? It's the safest choice and with no personality at all.

Not that DW watches are ugly, they're not.

But it's like they're praising him for wearing a white t-shirt, like cmon.

I get kind of annoyed when reading this manga lol, but at least this fashion manga has some substance to it compared to others.

Pretty sure "Majela" on page 63 (page 7 of this chapter) is supposed to be Margiela.

Is this an AD disguising as manga?

the infamous DW

No, we're not dead, just very busy

I have Swatch watch (a gift). It has been seven years and it never broke down :'v

You don't really have to say watch after that, people just say Swatch. The name came from Swiss Watch if I recall correctly

What I really like about this (besides how Tamaki is the most freaking adorable thing since the girl in Anitomo, and she's got a wider set of reactions) is how there's not even a whiff of romance or sexual attraction in the air.  90% of manga is relationship bullcrap, but not here.

I figured when the childhood friend showed up that 'Sigh, here we go', but nope!  I'm sure it could still happen, but 25 chapters in and nothin', maybe it can keep this up.

(I'm going to read chapters 26 and 27 after posting this, sure hope some romance doesn't break loose and make me look like an idiot).

It actually is nice that it doesn't have romance. Romance can definitely enhance a series if done properly, but most series just assume adding it automatically make them better, and romance ends up always done terribly. The only time romance doesn't detract from a series is either when it's well done, or if it doesn't exist. We don't need another manga with the main character being in love with their tsundere childhood friend, or the main character being an absolute dense child with the main female being an aggressive girl openly in love with him, but still gets super shy when even the tiniest thing happens.

I honestly think that the fashion consultant (MB) just likes Uniqlo a lot.   If you're in Japan it really is the place where you can get great fashion very cheaply, especially if you're a noob.

It's like in the US, if you were doing a construction manga, you'd sometimes go to OSH or Ace or Reconstruction Hardware, but you'd just end up going to Home Depot or Lowes a whole lot.

Yeah, I think Uniqlo just happens to sit smack in the intersection of cheap, versatile, and (most importantly) super easy to find. According to the parent company Fast Retailing, there are currently 834 Uniqlo locations in Japan alone. Virtually everyone in the country is able to get to one. To compare, there are only 51 Gap stores in Japan, and the Old Navy division shut down in 2016...

to be honest, if I knew from the start, that this manga is sponsored by some brand I wouldn't read it OR I would read it and be surprised how enjoyable it is. But "If you gonna..." started in my head as "lighthearted manga about some dude with qt sister learning how to be fab", and so now every product placement makes me cringe a little.

My heartstrings get tugged with every new expression Tamaki makes. <3

thank you for translating!! I think reading this makes me having more courage to buy things on my own since usually I got my mom to buy it...or my sister hand-me-downs. Tamaki is so nice!

Am I the only one who can't stand the new guy?

The final chapter will reveal that the sister was actually Uniqlo's CEO.

And the author is a majority shareholder.
