It's not as lurid as the description makes it sound. The Slice of Life category is closer to expressing these first three chapters, although there are mysteries involved. Think slice of life while recovering from supernatural tragedy while trying to see the comedy in the midst of drama. :) The characters interact stiffly in places but it captured my interest enough to follow it.
