Really, you're just all too focused on the chemistry. The question never specified that the jet fuel must start at room temperature...
Technically, jet fuel can't melt anything. It can DISSOLVE some stuff, but it's FIRE that melts things.
Well, that opinion is true though. Jetfuel CANNOT melt steel beams. It can, however, structurally weaken them immensely.
