Well to be fair "hikaru no go" started 1998, and researchers usually don't know how hard breakthroughs is going to be before they have been achieved. And who knows with the limited knowledge they had back then the prediction might have been reasonable.

Nah, it only looked good. "Hundred years too early"-thing.

pff. Not a hundred years, no. More like, today...

Obata Takeshi should stayed as an artist for an proper author like her...

I loved this series so much when I was a kid, and I still re-read it from time to time (it's licensed in my country and I collected them). It's a really great series and I cried several times because of it :")

I only reread the last two chapters and I started to cry...

Even if the ending was a little disappointing, I definitely prefer it this way 'cause when I come to reread it I don't have to read 1000 chapters or something stupid. Great story and shows a lot more than just Go.

I've stopped on last chapters. I'll believe that Hikaru will win his game(though I know the truth lol),

But to be honest he has overestimated himself.

I really didn't want Sai to leave. NEVER LEAVE!

I like the way this manga ended. Even though it doesn't feel that much like an ending in the sense that they're looking to the future still, they wrapped it up quite nicely by circling to Hikaru's reason for playing Go and applying it universally to all who play Go seriously.

I think it's too convenient for Hikaru to have won the game with Korea. It would have been more awesome since it's anticipated but it is fact that he isn't up to par with Touya as of yet so for a Korean who is supposed to be up to par with Touya to lose at the end just because of all the anticipation...too convenient to me.

Too often, we seek winners out and give them praise but I like how despite Japan's loss, their games have brought a worldwide hype to Japan's new wave of Go players.

The reason I don't like the ending... is because it just doesn't feel like an ending. That's all.

@Metroidhunter32 Well it's the end and people didn't want it to end. That's one, the second is they wanted to see hikaru win since it's the last big match to be seen. Quite frankly, i was disappointed too. Not because he lost but because of how much expectation people has in him and how he was potray in such a way that you want to see him win against a bigshot.
I don't know why everybody bashes the ending, I see nothing wrong with it. Sometimes they win, sometimes they lose, but they continue to play.
one of the manga from my childhood that make me into a manga fanatic as i am today.

i recall the time when Fujiwara was suddenly gone, it was a sad farewell.

ah...that childhood time....
This childhood manga brings me way back. It made me want to learn go so badly.
Hikaru no Go is one of those classic manga that would probably be remember of a long time, truly unforgettable.
Recommended to anyone who really wants to see passion, rivalry, dreams, growth development and actual story.

I read this in one sitting last year... I think i might do it again :D
Probably, the greatest "shounen manga" I've read in my life.. any one else notice how immaculate the art was???
