No... He changed...
He was always friends with Daisuke. In the manga, he didn't know whether or not Daisuke became an author and that last page basically tells him he did.
Oh, boy!. Such a good manga. I'll miss it, it's now one of my favorites.
So basically nothing changed except he became good friends with Daisuke who now became a famous writer?
I thought this would be some kind of cliché time travel manga, so I left it on my list for a while. Man, I've never been so wrong. The suspense made it intriguing and depressing at the same time. I personally felt satisfied with the ending - gorgeously ended and captured.
If you ever encounter this manga and wonder if you should read it or not, I recommend you to give it a shot.
One of best mangas I ever read. It happened many years ago, and still I feel impact of it. There was even french movie made of it, but I can't call it good.
This one is really worth reading.
I still can't fathom how the father had the heart to leave while his son is pleading him to stay. It's heart wrenching.
Uhuuuu....................that is seriously wicked............ i dunno how many time i cried reading this manga.....

i can't believe i find the time-travel manga like "doute" by accident, yet again.....

And yes Taniguchi is a great mangaka, lot's of his work are translated and in few volumes so don't hesitate to give it a go.
To relive the youth, to re-live my regrets, my happiness, and past, it is something rooted deep in us that only grows the more we age.
It is said that even if humans can live over 100, the memories and youth of the first two decades is forever embedded into our hearts.
However, the future is always ahead of us and is unwritten. We must always move forward in the future, with only our past giving only fond memories.
