hi there, i just wanted to be the first comment in 2017

It's too bad no one is scanlating the manga. :(

Scan, yes, there are raw up to vol 8 now, no translation thou.

It's actually super unfair that you just assume that I didn't understand the sentence even though I JUST explained why I translated it the way I did. I didn't like the phrase "carrying that stuff doesn't make you convincing at all". Is that not a fair justification? You can disagree with my translation, but that doesn't make me wrong, we just have different styles. I am more liberal, you are more literal.

But it is outright unfair of you to therefore declare that I don't have the Japanese skills and say it in these comments so presumptuously. Do you want me to take a japanese test for you so you're satisfied I know my shit? Is that it? (I hope you've also TLC'd the whole manga before you make bold declarations like these)

I mean you have nothing to lose you are an anon. You can say whatever shit you like to destroy me since there's no way for the normal reader to know whether you are right or not. But please go pick on someone else, not me. I understood the passages in this manga 99.9% correctly, if not 100%. The language is fairly simple. I have no official qualifications but I passed the diagnostic test at nanodesu translations, if that helps. Just ask on their IRC channel.

As I mentioned from the start, the problem is not about your preference; It's about you missing the original meaning of the bubble. If you don't like my translation, that's fine, but at the very least, make sure that your sentence matches the meaning that is it intended to give out. There's a huge difference between inaccuracy and translation style and yours clearly belong to the former.

Also, where in my post did I say you don't have any Japanese skills? Since when did brushing up on Japanese skills = no Japanese skills? For your information, I didn't read the horrendous translation that was in the previous group until I saw your rerelease of this series.(I tend to read mangas together with raws unless it's a group that I trust.) I was surprised when I see that most of your translation just in chapter 1 alone didn't match up with what the original meaning that the author intended, that's why I decided to voice out my thoughts with regards to that.

Don't get me wrong, it was never my intention to make you do a Japanese test as I am not the one that you ought to please, but the readers. As you mentioned earlier, the average reader might not understand Japanese but for the reader that knows Japanese but prefer english works(like me), you risk turning them off because of the mistranslations.

While I am not sure how difficult the test in nanodesu translations is, it's really sad that you decide to turn my opinions as some sort of a personal attack against you just because I am an "anon".

i have translated a bunch of chapters before, so I am pretty confident in my translation, thank you.

I don't know how experienced you are with translation, but I have tried "because of your ____ therefore your words carry no weight" expression before in those two bubbles. It didn't sound right or it didn't sound like a kind of expression that a natural English user would use. So I took the liberty to reword it in a way that feels more fluid yet keeps the gist of the sentence. If I left it as a literal translation, it would sound stilted because many Japanese expressions don't work in English even though they sound normal to a Japanese. This is translation 101.

Now back to the topic, I was just trying to highlight to you that your translation in this part was wrong and was trying to convey to you the original meaning of that sentence. it was not meant to be a word for word replacement for that bubble.

If I were to translate that line, I would simply just write "Carrying that sort of stuff doesn't make you sound convincing at all" or something like that.

in order to rephrase something, one needs to know what that sentence is about. The problem with your translation is that you don't really know what the sentence is about, and that turns into a mess when you rephrase it. This sentence is not something that is complicated at all, so it doesnt need any serious rewording,

A quick search on google shows that "説得力" is convincing, so I am bewildered that you would think of it as some sort of tough expression that might confuse the native english speaker.

Seems to me that instead of taking more time in translating, you should perhaps be spending more of that in brushing up your Japanese.

Not trying to stir shit or anything. But your translation is not very accurate too. For example, chapter 1 page 9 panel 1 bubble 2, your translation totally went off the mark there she is talking about how Naru's word carry no weight since she is carrying Children books and DVDs. Not about how deluded she is. Just my two cents.

Working on this series atm.

I’m re-scanlating the whole of volume one because the previous scans (by Reine Scans) have some horrible english in them (also I suspect it was translated into English from Chinese scanlations). Volume 01 is too important to just leave like that if I intend to scan the later volumes, (because I would like to actually have readers!), so I decided to re-scanlate vol 01.  I’m about 2/3's way through I’ll upload when I have everything.

Edit: Ok I am done with 1st volume. Just have to proofread and then upload it. The English should be much better than the previous we had

Ah... thanks for the re-scans, I forgot I want to read it since the first chapter came out 2 years ago mmm...

I actually forgot about this series. Thanks for the re-scans! :)

Quickly scanlated a bit of chapter 13 as part of a small test. Would be nice to get some feedback. http://aritedrop.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-little-test.html?m=1

help.. I'm hopelessly addicted to the opening song..

We all do.

Also Yaya best girl.

help.. I'm hopelessly addicted to the opening song..

Wasn't there another yosakoi-based manga being translated a year or so back? What happened to it?

well. naru is hella cute.

He is also a member of doujin circle Sekitou.

I didn't notice a problem.  But then, my taste runs to a more literal translation anyway; having a turn of phrase that's a bit alien to Anglo sensibilities makes it feel more like I'm reading what a Japanese person is saying.

I don't see anything wrong with the translation, I understand it. Thank you very much for your work on this manga :)
