I've read this manga some years ago, and I remember I said " I love it!". Reading it now that I'm older, I appreciate it waaaay more.
So,yep this one is probably one of my favourite shoujo.
It's simple but full of feels, I feel like I'm watching Futamura growing up, from a teen to a young adult!!
The drawing style is puuurfect and DAMN, Yachiyo's back story...It always makes me emotional :')
And even if it was, it was handled in a more subtle, simple and direct manner that really made the storytelling more relatable.
Yachiyo's backstory was touching and made me shed a tear or two. But instead of being completely depressed there was a sense of closure and bittersweet feeling when she buried her reply.
I normally don't like tragic stories but that was the pinnacle for this manga.
The romance in the end was cute and logical and not forced even if there's no 'heart thumping' feelings for them.
This manga was a little more unique compared to typical romance shojo because of Yachiyo and the promise club. Recommend!
And yes, cherish each and every day of life.
Thanks to the scanlators for your job!
I'm more inclined to call it a "coming of age" tale than slice of life. And no that doesn't have to be a euphemism for a boy's first physical love affair. I mean emotional growth by children struggling to become more mature and self-assured.
Yachiyo has such an attractive personality. I'd love to meet someone like her in real life (or be someone like her in real life).
That said, I love their character development.
Everyone, please read this <3
Nice. Really, really nice. No other word for it.
aww twas so cute my heart flipped a dozen times at the end ///__///
From the beginning, I didn't expect a triangle to form from this type of manga, and I'm really glad it didn't go that route. I would say this manga is a slice of life with a taste of shoujo.
Yachiyo's and Umiho's friendship is so beautiful.
I'm assuming Umiho is the flower and Yachiyo is the thunderbolt.
This was lovely, I'm so happy I got to see the end of this, even though I completely forgot it existed within the last year. Details are fuzzy but I still remember I enjoyed it greatly
Ugh...the snot. I cried while reading Yachiyo's back story. I love moving stories, but the snot!
& I was totally suspicious at the beginning of it being a shoujo-ai in disguise (it's not though).
...I still don't get the title. Flower, okay got it. Thunderbolt? Did I miss some reference? (Flower getting struck by lightning?! poor flower)
Yes, but then you get to read it more than once and have happy feels.
Though I wouldn't mind that. I think they have good chemistry. :-)
The problem with nice little unpretentious manga releasing slowly is I have no memory of what the bleep is happening so now I have to go read half of it all over again.
An update!
haha, I think the teacher is the same one from Mashikaku Rock, Watanabe Kana's other manga.
So, Shinomiya, please take responsibility
Accept, date, and marry her,
and then go and make pretty little babies
<3~
Lolz I must be watching too much Futurama coz that's how I read Futamura
After ch. 1 I find it hard to fathom that this isn't shoujo ai.
It really isn't?
for anyone interested in chapter 4... theres a summary w/ pics etc on this tumblr.
guwah, love this manga though!
