She creates quirky and fun characters, but usually it's only the shell of the entire pod that gets developed.
Also I agree with another comment that there's an issue with the flow and pacing of the story.
She takes her time in the first few chapters, but then speeds through a lot of stuff toward the end.
I feel the romance always come off as big sweeping moments, but never taking the time to let the romance simmer and just let nature take its course.
Too many random kisses with no emotional connection to fully make these kisses and so called extravagant squee moments make any emotional impact on the readers.
All we're left with is 'let's insert a random kiss here' or 'lets add a flirty comment' which is OK, but not taking itself seriously at some point in the story becomes too much of a caricature
OR, she'd have her MC cry like every moment when she's supposed to be cool and composed, and you wonder if she's a completely different character. Then the mangaka remembers the MC is supposed to be strong and cool and add a kick ass scene in the end and finish.
I suppose her mangas aren't the slice of life slow paced manga as it is only 9 chapters but, interpreting a scene and how it's drawn can impact an entire story.
Her oneshots are a lot better and I suppose I give a lot of leeway since it's only a one shot so I may not be as harsh on it.
Still, her stories aren't terrible, but you'd quickly realises her short stories have good starts but completely collapses in the middle and feebly finishes toward the finish line.
That first oneshot was so sad. He should definitely give that four-eyes a punch!
This manga as a whole was a pretty awesome experience and one i'll remember for awhile
