It turns out that being teleported into a different world is somewhat of a common occurrence. Those who find themselves back home often come back with the power to use magic and the world organization, fearing people like Akatsuki, created Babel, a school to teach and keep tabs on the magic users. Akatsuki is able to pull the demon lord’s only daughter into Babel as his sister, Ousawa Miu. A new chapter for Akatsuki is about to begin in his own universe.

They were just quoting the Witcher(a very popular polish book series[and a few games]). In the world of the Witcher, cockatrice can not turn people to stone, but ignorant people believe they can.

There are always different versions of the same myth. Don't blame people for not reciting version you know.

Agreed. I've read a ton of mythology, fiction and played a lot of video games and such. These creatures vary greatly and there usually isn't a set "official" myth at all. A lot of times nothing is written down at all or it was only written down long after the stories were originally told.

In the story we are reading now, we have to take the creatures as they are presented.

The cockatrice has always been able to turn people into stone, check it out on any mythological reference book.

For quick examples that come to mind, it's always been that way in Final Fantasy games (especially with the FF A2 one); and one of my childhood favorites (the anime, not the digimon), Kokatorimon.

The ability is often named something along the lines of "Petrifying Breath", mostly in games. In folklore though, it's known as the "Death Darting Eye".

well it appears that there are 11 volumes of this series and for some reason its been dropped over here

I wonder why thought since they left off on a series cliff hanger.

at least show what happened after the anime :P

Wish the series would be picked back up. =/

This series is pointless crap.

@expers

there are  many interpretations of different creatures in mythology, differing depending on the cultures.

the mermaid ranges from a half fish and half human to a full fish, and some mermaids are simply beasts with no relation to fish.  i am not gona go thru long lengths to link, just look it up on google

also jesus differs greatly in attitude and appearance from each religions perspective

myths are myths, there will be variations

Not even worth the rating of one star...

You have never played a Japanese RPG have you? Next thing your going to tell us is Thundaga is a water spell...

Fiction is fiction. Creatures, animals, monsters, and beings that only exist in legend and myth are open to interpretation. If it really existed then you could argue the validity of it being Medusa or an over grown rooster.

Well if they're just making systems or creatures up then that's fine, but when you borrow stuff from Mythology it already technically 'exists' in a fashion. I would love to see more accurate mythology in stuff like this.

Why am I following this? 4 months, it's clearly been dropped again.

I want more so badly...I've watched the anime and I'm still left wanting to read it in manga form.
If the MC is too strong thing's could get boring pretty soon. Maybe there's some out there that can pose as a challenge to him. The sword was huge, it was cool to see.

mother of god that sword was epic in all meaning of the word
I guess I'll never understand why in times of readily available pornographic material of all sorts a lot of manga authors still fail at drawing large breasts. Can't be a lack of reference material.

Also, I agree that the whole "holy water" thing was totally pointless. Should've just gone and smash the door. He obviously doesn't care about the school rules, else he wouldn't take off the vice-prez's panties or grab the breasts of the other girls. Nothing against a bit of fan service, even if that whole pissing-thing is not for me at all, but at least don't use such a stupid plot for it.
The main character is such a badass. No room for further development needed... But what's up with his weapon? A sword with no blades lol
Tanaka, you naughty boy.
a ritual? lol
Bastards. Why update the same chapter >.< xD
wtf lol and here I thought bonds of holy water was going to be some serious ritual or something.
