He's not so much ugly as just angry. Like, his face is stuck in that look whenever you find out someone took the last donut. You know, the "unforgiving rage that blinds you to all but your enemies" look.

Ok the art is good, and the style is great...
But what's with the story? It's like Author threw us right into the middle of everything, and we are suposed to know what's going on? Who is the main chara? Why should I root for him? Sure, it has only been two chapters, but in most manga you atleast get to know the MC on some level. Don't even get me started about the girl that just randomly appeared in that chap 2. What was her name again?

"Transformation of a gui" somehow spells "flat design" for me.
Well, Nana to Kaoru is pretty popular... Personally, it still takes me an effort not to freak out when I see Initial D characters. Still enjoying it.
In the original draft of Gui Wang, Zhong Kui was drawn ugly. You could say that the first page was something of a homage to his original design.
TBH it said that in tradition Zhong gui is ugly and then below it says the story is not bsed entirely on tradition.
I would, especially when it's presented as part of the story idea like this. It got me curious. I'm a little disappointed to see it's not true.
Who would read something where the main character is ugly?
