I'm clearly part of the minority here, but I liked this. I wouldn't say it was realistic, or that it wouldn't have benefited from better pacing, but I think it did a good job of showing that life happens. People have needs, people cheat, people make mistakes and sometimes they can even fix them. It's said again and again that Akio and Yoshino are the farthest thing from a fairy tale love story, and I see that reflected in the ending a lot. I guess my biggest complaint is how rushed the ending felt, but it seems appropriate enough. I still don't understand all the Yoshino hate, but hey, whatever.

That's (alot of) words out of my own head. I'd add 'People learn, and people don't/refuse to learn' to that list, too.

This story didn't ring so 'real' for me, but in proper perspective, it should be hard to expect a story, let alone a manga to adhere strongly to 'realism'. But for what it was, I felt, if not entirely honest in the portrayal, Gonensei was quite honest in the effort. A+ for Kio, and A+ for Maigo for bringing this to us. <3

It's a keeper, for me.

This whole manga made me about life more than I think I needed to @.@..

And the ride is over....

Thanks for all the releases :)

This is some hardcore slice of life.

what a fucking trainwreck, why do i keep reading this?

Because it's still a better love story than [insert anything by Seo Kouji].

I walked away after volume 2 but from the comments it seems many of you are in need of medication.
this might be enough

Man I feel for Akio the most (no sexism), he kinda just loses trust and humanity in everyone. I feel a bit bad for Yoshino, but I'm an asshole and I feel like she deserves this pain although  getting almost killed isn't something I wished for. I just wished that she understood the pain she sort of put Akio in, which she kinda did but Akio is more fucked up than her now.

Bitches and whores, man. Bitches and whores.

what a fucking trainwreck, why do i keep reading this?

isn't that actually why you are reading this?

Yoshino needs a big hug.

Noooo, Akio! He almost made it but got roped in at the last second. Seems like there's a new girl entering the mix, considering the newest cover. Hopefully, Yoshino gets herself together now that this is over (or not?).

Thanks for the releases, Maigo! You spoil us so much that it's making it very difficult to let go of this series.

Was randomly browsing the net when I saw this photo of a man:   images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTztvuJrbIFTCjOCX1Etd3

He looks so similar to that older guy yoshino is currently in "love" with!!

Maigo is on a roll this week! Thanks for the hard work!

He's not that old, he's got his shit together and he's married. If you knew the amount of women that just can't stay away from men that seem to be perfect and in a relationship... They want that experience, to be THAT woman that seem to be all bliss, truth is usually not what they expect but that's just the illusion most of them think is happening.

As for her speech, well, I can't say I disagree. A lot of whiners and activists are pretty self-serving, they fight for the interest of a group sure, but it's aligned with their interest in a lot of cases. You also have to remember that it's Japan as well, most people would agree that you should shut up and not cause problem for those around you. How dare they question the golden status-quo!

Maybe the author wanted to paint this prevalent attitude badly by making her look like a bitch?

Misanthropes and cynics exist, she isn't alone.

Still, it doesn't seem like she's attracted to him for his stability/ability to provide. More for his "intelligence"/atmostphere as she said. The way she fell for him on the spot, the author seems to be showing how weakened the relationship has become as well as contrasting with Shima's stance in the previous chapter. I still find it weird that Soma who we've previously known as a practical, loyal girlfriend would just fall in love at first sight. At least Shima calls her out for it by talking about how her "wall against men" has crumbled down.

Of course, activists fight for their own interests. Who doesn't? By standing up for themselves, people make their interests known and can therefore work together to improve the lives of many. Sure, there are corrupt people who fight for petty things, but that's just life. Anyways, I definitely don't agree with Soma's rather apathetic, resentful speech. Whether or not the author is going for social commentary, I still find the character change pretty jarring.

When I was questioning them being "normal", I meant a healthy relationship (hopefully that's normal). Of course, people change and reveal different aspects of themselves, but this just seemed like a drastic change from Yonensei. I'm more mourning for the way Soma's turning into a fairly unsympathetic character from the hard working, practical but kind image she had before.

Misanthropes and cynics do exist. They're not the norm, and I had hoped Soma wouldn't be one of them.

yeah basically what you said.

what i'd like to know is what Soma is thinking in all of chapter 15, she contradicts and backtracks herself and just doesn't seem logical.

Maybe...it seems pretty weird to just fall in love on first sight with an old man, and looking down on everybody and disliking people fighting for human rights doesn't seem that normal to me either. It feels as though the author is just throwing in things to create conflict. I appreciated how Shima handled his own situation though, although that was pretty out of the blue too.

I think you'll understand this story better when you've had a relationship like this...

"It's not like you've never used me to satisfy your own urges, Akio."

Daaaaaaaamn

She does have a point there, but it remains that he really loved her each time they had sex while she is fantasizing on another man when sleeping with him. I couldn't help but think "Ok, you're a real bitch here" when she said that.
