I think I am the only who is cheering for Gus Brown. Poor him. The author didn't even let him appear in the ending.

It's true, it happens a lot. I myself prefer the manga as well though, the stories from the Harlequin manga I've read so far just aren't worth taking multiple hours to read, but in a single manga volume of about half an hour the story is often quite enjoyable and it makes you more willing to forgive the flaws. I tend to read them instead of watching romantic movies, since I like manga better. I doubt I'm going to read this one though, I like the others a lot because they are so short (I read them on my way to University as light entertainment), with the length of this one I might as well read the original book

 

I'm glad I'm not the only one hunting down trying to read all of the Harlequin manga because of the sheer entertainment value. 

 

Though, by "entertainment value" I mean I read them late at night just to laugh my heart out. I think I did read a good one in over 10 Harlequins I read so far. (Still better than romance novels that make me cringe so hard at the stupid I can't even laugh.)

So who here who reads this manga also thinks that Mischief Jones sounds like a porn name?

Thanks for the new chapters. but I must admit after the enjoyable and interesting story gets so bad after ch.50. That I facepalm about as often as many pages there are. I'd say its the dumbest thing I've ever read, but unfortunately I've seen worse.

It actually happens quite a bit in the Josei demographic. Many of the stories in Harlequin, for example, are based on romance novels/novella/novelettes/stories by Western (American, European) authors and are simply illustrated by a mangaka. It's a way of retelling the story in a visual form without needing to think up their own plot, and Japanese women tend to prefer reading the manga over a translated version in a literary format having grown up reading shoujo manga rather than stories as western women do.

I haven't read the manga, nor do I plan to do so, however I felt the urge to make an unnecessary comment on how strange I find the idea, of making a manga out of an American writer's romance novel.
