I can't believe I enjoyed a story about a literal shit baby.
Really good
Well, that was completely insane.
before this one planetes was my favorite manga, but this is just perfect.
Hm, kinda reads like some dark, twisted fairytale.
The way it's narrated is eerily calm.
Not too bad.
The one commendable aspect of this series is the art, which built an atmosphere of surreal creepiness quite well, also contributing to detach the character's actions from 'normalcy'. Other than that, a huge disappointment. It's pretty grotesque, and I don't read grotesque stuff just for the sake of it; if there's a compelling character and story behind the gore, I'll stomach it. This? There was nothing worth it, and I'm pretty pissed off that I stomached all of it for nothing in the end. Especially the end, though it feels like a suitable end for such a pathetic character. The first chapter was so damn promising but, ugh. Never looking at this again.
Also, people who compare this to Urasawa's Monster and decide that this is a shorter version... let me give y'all a hard slap (seen this too fucking much in reviews). There's absolutely nothing in common with the two except both having murdering psychopaths. There's nothing similar with the plot, psychology, characters, their motivations and actions between the two stories.
(From what I've read of this author's works, this is indeed a huge departure from what they normally do. I like what I've read of them so far, excluding this work.)
I actually think it's quite amazing.
but a + for the art because let u "focus" on the story.
If I'm right, their art style resembles woodblock art a little. After all, Nishioka Kyoudai produce e-hon works too.
In any case, this work is a heavy departure in tone from the rest of the Bro and Sis' works.
