Wuw, I've read this manga more than 10 years ago, and the publisher in my country made a terrible job so I Probably know less of someone that watched the anime.
Well, Kaneda isn't a good mangaka no matter when so the anime is probably the best choice even if the translation is good...

Actually, the manga and the anime have very little in common. They animated around 12-15 chapters, threw in some original episodes and adapted ideas out of other 3-4 chapters to make other original episodes (like the final arc, that goes full original).
Some characters are even distorted or taken to the extreme. Oh, and the anime is way more ecchi than the manga (I didn't disliked it...)
But all in all I think the manga is better (we could make a good discussion out of it...)

And this epilogue wan't much, just a chapter like the others, we discovered she can go over her heartbreak breaking bones.

Actually, I think there's more, a lot of things that Kirie hints around the chapter.

[Sees reference asterisk to chapter 68.  Glances at fan translations, stalled at chapter 19.  Makes wistful sigh.]

I'm sorry, I mean it... :<

Above all, because in some parts I trust the "official" english version way less than fantranslations... seem put together haphazardly, like google-translated texts blandly adjusted.

(Yeah, I tried to find a translator to remake GB from scratch, but there's no one willing to translate a 68chapters-10volumes-12yearsold manga)

Wait, Mario Kaneda's a woman?

yup

It's a sort of after-story that the mangaka made as a bonus, added to the deluxe version of the manga.

Reading this, I think is easy to see who are her favorite characters.

Woah, it takes me back in 2004(me still Middle school student)
I Dont know there is prologue about kirie and fukuyama
