In Japan the age of consent is 13 years old, that said each prefecture has it's own laws that add on stipulations, for instance in Tokyo there is a law that prohibits sex with anyone under the age of 17 when involved with someone 18 or older. It is perfectly legal and fine to pursue a 14 year old boy as long as you don't actually get his dick wet, which is the premise of the story and the point of the discussion taking place. Of course that is just Tokyo specifically, it's different wherever you go and like it or not the story is not sick or wrong, just different to what you've been taught and have come to expect, the world isn't black and white.
To add my thoughts on the stupid age discussion. Japan is different. Japan has a reputation for being weird. Japan has a massive fan base of lolis and I can guarantee that the age gaps in those fandoms will match if not surpass 10 years. Why are we all up in arms now?

Man, there's stories on this site about all kinds of crazy relationships. Some vampire story about a 112 year old woman who looks ten having sex with a twelve year old. A grown man having sex with his middle school-aged sister. Hell, if you go beyond sexual morality, there's all kinds of things you could complain about, like torture, or genocide, or a girl getting brutally bullied, abused, and gang-raped after school every day until she snaps and destroys the lives of all her classmates one by one, murdering those whom she once called friends (that one's actually quite good). This goofy romance is what you choose to worry about? It's just fiction. If you're really concerned, go try to get Plato banned from your local library for encouraging paederasty.
This is really inappropriate. An adult dating a teenager is inredibly inappropriate, and I can't believe there are people arguing this point. There is a reason statutory rape is illegal, and codified into law. A child dating an adult is imbalanced and predatory. The 10 year age difference is not the issue, it's the fact he was a child when she started pursuing him. If she was 40 and he was 30, it would be a VERY different story- or even 20 and 30. The reality is, a child does not have the maturity and experience to be able to tell or resist manipulation by adults. People in here are talking about the age of consent, and forgetting that many, many ages of consent are actually different when consent is between a child and an adult. In NYS, the age of consent is 17 when there is no more than a four year age difference. That means if you are 22, you still can't date a 17 year old! The maturity difference is too great. The woman in the last story is a sex offender, pure and simple.
As someone married to a woman six years older than me I found the final story interesting. The Age difference to me is no big deal, it's the maturity/social levels that would, in my opinion cause that to not happen, at that time. 11th/12th grade to college with someone 10 years older? Totally doable. There's just something about that "middle schooler" age barrier that just put me off a bit on it. Once they were past that first bit I was totally on board with the story.
Please don't talk nonsense. Love is all sweet and "illogical" in fiction, it's a comforting fantasy to indulge in. In real life there are actual logical reasons for people to stay together.

Then again one could argue that she was so head over heels for him that she just ignored those thoughts, which refreshing. Seeing how we are used to stories where the main female questions 95% of the time on why is she with him.

I never get tired of re-reading this.
The kid was 14 when they first met. They started living together when he started college at 18. Proposal happened when he was 19 yrs 1/2 months old.
He's clearly older than 14 in chapter 6. They made a huge point of how short he was compared to her, it looks by at least 6 inches when he reaches up to kiss her. Then in chapter 6 they go out of their way to show her standing on a step and still not as tall as him. The kid has grown at least a foot. I'm guessing he's intended to be at least 17.
I am actually more bothered by that woman's mentality than the age difference itself and the fact that an adulte like her would go after a 14 years old.

Look at those pages, the only thing she is worried about is what to wear on a date with a middle school boy. She didn't even question herself whether it was alright for an office lady like her to date a middle schooler. Yes, she was worried later on but only about their appearance. About how they would look together, not whether it was right or wrong.This is what I find more disturbing.
And ''the hotel fee, it's on me today!''...well, clearly they have already done it before and it sure didn't look like she was teasing him.
And 10 years gap is totally fine if he wasn't a 14 years old. And if you do the math, she is clearly older than just by 10 years. Let's say his teacher is 23-24 (a young teacher) and she is older than that, so the difference is even higher.
That being said, I don't mind the age gap, but it's the fact that she went after him and she didn't even question whether it was right or not is what bothers me the most.

Nah I'd like to differ. It's not clear whether the thing she said about hotel is true or just her teasing him. Even if it's true, he is already in high school, and 16 is legal age for consensual sex, therefore, no harm's done, no wrong's .
And if you find the relationship between couple with 10 years difference in age disturbing, then this story is not for you.
And really relationships like this are not even unusual.
Remember that America has some pretty weird and unique laws. In most westernised countries, age of consent is 16, and alcohol is 18. The Alcohol thing is purely for safety-as the body is considered to have grown enough that it can easily handle alcohol.
the last story...it's so wrong. If you read this mangaka's other work 14 sai no koi, there is special about this and in there he mentionned that she is even older than his teacher. So she's like 10-15 years olden than him. sooo wrong. And she doesn't allow him to drink bear when he is not ligally a major but then she goes to a hotel with him whe he's like 15-16 0_0
