Looks like the scanlator disappeared. Shame, I liked this series, I hope someone else picks it up.

you're downplaying the role of personality, it's personality that dictates how a person express themsevles, through their cloths and fashion choices, and it's even more pronounced with Gyaru, bc Gyary started as Gal mouvement, self-affirmation by being bold
eventualy, commercial companies jumped on the bandwagon and started influencing, and eventualy it became fashion, sometimes girls who don't even identify with the Gal thing dressh gyaru bc it's cool.

isn't gyaru term in japan come because of influence of america's culture

japan depict america as land of freedom of expression, especially in term of fashion

maybe cause japan is strict with tradition

from what i know in japan manga and A*cough*V, gyaru depicted in fashion, make up, and slang words

Gyaru started as Gal movement: self-affirmation by being bold
eventually, commercial companies jumped on the bandwagon and started influencing, and eventually it became fashion, sometimes girls who don't even identify with the Gal thing dress gyaru because it's kawaii.

Capitalism ruins everything... Every movement ends up being influenced and corrupted by corporate greed, even the ones that are strictly anti-capitalist or anti-establishment. You cannot defeat Capitalism the same way you cannot defeat cancer and there is no way to change that. The only thing you can do is give in and buy freakishly expensive three-dimensional super fancy nail art...

Gyaru is just girls with gyaru fashion, it's about their appearance. It's just that, over time, people associate it with both their fashion and their stereotypical personality.

So yeah, fashion trend.

I'm never getting my yuri, am I. ;.;

I think you will. It's just a matter of time before Satomi realizes and gives in to her beloved Ten-sama.

Actually that last chapter makes me hope (in vain I know) that Ten-sama will get to enjoy a Maria/Yuria combo meal.

Why? Gyaru is just an appearance. And she does look like one.

I'd say it's an appearance that goes with a subculture.  And subcultures have implications for presentation of personality; goths aren't supposed to be cheerful, skinheads are supposed to be violent etc.; with most subcultures it's less explicit than that, but it's still there.

In this case she theoretically participates in the subculture when she's not going to her idol's concerts, but you basically never see it except when she "uncharacteristically" turns down her friends who want to go do stuff.

That's not how discussions work.

Nor does it make him less wrong.

Ahahah... no.

Ahahah... no.

Okay, who keeps adding all these tags.

I'm never getting my yuri, am I. ;.;

Not with that attitude.

Ok ok OK I get it so just fk already.

we are getting a few "Gal" oriented manga with almost all of them, doing a very poor job with the characters.

Well, the title is just expressing the common opinion that "Gal and Otaku can't understand each other." so it doesn't strictly refers to the main characters of this manga and more like the idea itself.

And of course, as it turns out that the gal is secretly an idol otaku and the otaku is secretly and idol which makes them actually a match (idol and its fans) which breaks the common misconception of the title itself.

trending, i guess. galko is cutting it pretty close, though she's pure af.

>Gal and Otaku can't understand each other.

But the Gal IS the Otaku...
