Some people don't teach their kids properly.  Little kids need to have it emphasized that they have to be careful and gentle or they don't realize they can't just treat an animal like they would a stuffed one or something.

Yeah, our neighbors had a small child and any time she saw our cat she would go "Kitty" and grab it around the neck with both hands and then carry it like that. While she never really learned, the cat learned fast to run upstairs and hide whenever she appeared.

But that also reminds me of when I was in fourth grade and I let this toddler I was sitting next to hold my pet hamster. He squeezed him so hard his eyes started bulging out... Yeah I guess it's adorable when the animal is as large as or larger than the child

Oh boo fucking hoo. Someone doesn't have the exact same opinion as you about gay/trans people. Get over it. It's a much different culture over there and frankly you need to stop trying your own ideals on them. 

I'm not a big believer in cultural relativism.  Some things are just and some things are unjust.  Whether it's racism, sexism, antigay, caste, class or what, there is injustice in every culture--and every culture has people who are upset about it and trying to change it.  To the extent that my ideals are just, it's fine to "try my own ideals on them", whoever "they" might happen to be--and I will merely be agreeing with a certain section of "them".  I will back the ethically sound minority against the unethical majority whether in my home country or anywhere else, and make no apologies.

Anyhow, saying in an English-language forum something about one's taste in manga is not in any way shape or form imposing anyone's ideals on any Japanese mangaka who is blissfully unaware the forum in question even exists.  Mayhap you are the one who should get over it and just let people's taste be their taste.

Hayato is... 174 cm? 194? Mm, he is either close to my ideal height (for me. I wanna be taller) or too tall and should move to a sports manga

The little sister was actually pretty accepting, and even the onii-chan was worried on Ryuuichi's behalf ("society... and stuff"). Not perfect, but nice progress (:
