Futari no Renai Shoka

This resonated with me.  That was a very sweet story. 

I figure that Akio started off in middle school for two reasons:  one, to provide time for the relationship to grow so that the majority of what is covered takes place when he is high school and between being a man and a boy, and second as a mirror, of sorts, to the relationship between Kanako's mother and father.

Regarding the first point, a boy is allowed to speak his mind while an adult would be expected to restrain himself especially when the relationship between the two is not close but a child's words are not given the same weight and are often discounted, even more so when the person being told really does not want to listen or think about it.

I want an English release of this so bad.  This would be one I would read again.

When did i mention sex? Please enlighten me. I was talking about the cuteness of the manga. I read the bible. Therefore my belief is that sex is after marriage. My wife and I both waited. My affinity for this book is the slow build and cuteness. You have jumped to a gigantic conclusion. My comment on the age was about the cute factor nothing else. The vanilla relationship is a fair and honest relationship. I will teach you something. Innocence doesn't always have to be about sex. My first thought about innocence is the learning process. Everything is new. Akio knew nothing about adulthood, friendship, eating ice cream with the family on sunday. Innocence is the way the youth perceive the world before the harshness sets in. I watch my six year old daughter, and do not wish to take her view of life away from her. God has always intended us to see the world like a six year old. Why? Because the only thing we would see is the wonder.  You see them as they are. The sky is blue. My eyes are green. My daughter has light brown hair. That is innocence, it has absolutely no place for sex either way. 

It's not really such a 'gigantic conclusion' because you were heavily implying it even from my perspective. 

Because obviously 2 adults can't have a relationship that immediately becomes about sex...

Seriously, give the author some credit. That's a pretty crappy reason to make one character a minor.

I too have wondered why Akio wasn't older. At least a high school senior. But I did come up with one thought on it. He likely kept one of the main characters really young to maintain the books innocence. With a minor the relationship will stay vanilla.

It was a nice read, and the couple indeed has a lot of chemistry, but I can't help thinking just how unrealistic the premise is (yeah I know this is fiction and all so I shouldn't mind. Fuck me, right?). How many freshman/sophomore kids out there are actually that emotionally mature? It's funny because the author could have made him a college student or even a senior instead and still maintain the storyline, only making it more believable.

To Sephlin: I am sorry for responding like this. I am not sure how to get the quotes to work. There was a picture of the welcoming board that he took, I believe. His friend told Akio that they would have to convince Kanako to have the ceremony. He likely was going to show her it.

 Does anyone think they will invite Izumi to the ceremony/reception? I mean Akio seemed to be afraid of her. He also called her a bad person.

It started out okay, pretty well actually, but then it...Sorta just ended. It didn't seem to want to say anything in particular.....

Why, yes, slice-of-life is listed as a genre. Go figure. And it's targeted at an older audience, one that isn't looking for answers so much as experiencing life as it comes.

 Very nice. I guess Akio's parents, and brother are meant for our own imaginations. The best that I can figure is, his parents wanted the other son more. So, Kanako came into Akio's life to finally give him a family. He was the voice that her family needed with the father. A sweet ending indeed. But the author may be charged with  murder soon. I might die from dehydration from crying.

This was such a pleasant read, maybe this is not a manga for all since, like others have already mentioned, this particular genre depends a lot from the conexion that the reader makes with the characters since the rest of the elements are things that you could find normally in your own environment, nothing to stand out a lot to catch the reader with a first impression.

I would love to re read this again a couple of years from now and it is a story that I would recommend above all those romantic shonen mangas and their sometimes ridiculous drama, despite it cuteness and all, the trauma that Kanako had with her father seems more real, more relatable and more important than any of usual misunderstandings that you see over and over again in those manga, and seeing two characters that love, understand and complement each other so well is great; together they are pretty much an ideal.

Thanks for your work in this manga and thanks to the author even if she is not going to read this. I would have liked to see a closure to Akio´s own family problems, that is my only complain.

There's room for cute little person stories here.  I'll take it over Hot Blooded Shonen Guy #3,429 in Shonen Manga I Already Read When It Was Called Flame of Recca, Itself Already A Clone #572.

Not a particularly interesting series. Seems like the ability to appreciate is based on how you feel about the characters and they did nothing for me. It was cute enough but nothing more than that.

MY GOOGLE FU HAS FAILED ME!

This was such alot of warmth reading through this short little series. I loved how the story was realistic - that the main characters didn't have some dark past where they were bullied but just had some family drama that made it seem more believable and not over the top. I'd love to see an hour long OVA of this, hope some anime company picks it up!

I don't know, this didn't leave much of an impression on me.

Still, a pretty cute manga. It's among the many other "cute, healing manga", though.

As said by the authors of Bakuman (with some slight changes since I don't remember the exact words m(_ _)m sorry) (and yes I know many other motivational figures but bear with me),

It's better to go by rather quick, while leaving a strong impact on many people, than last so long, but not as many remember how it lasted.

You can be happy and sad at the same time.

 

It's much better than some of the manga I've read which get really bad endings (not necessarily unhappy or anything, but unsatisfying) or just stop updating.

Be happy that it lasted as long as necessary to tell a good story without overstaying its welcome, rather than languish in relationship limbo for 20 volumes before ending abruptly like a fart the author's been holding in for years.
