Ok.. chapter 7 and I just cant take this even half seriously anymore.. This fucking toddler... is shooting.. a sniper... over the shoulder.. with her fucking eye glued to the god damn scope.. and as if that god damn gun has no recoil? We have a name for those in our hunting group and they are called "punaisen puolikuun kerho" or as translated "club of the red lune/half moon" and thats because that scope would cut into her damn eyebrow after first shot, cut deep enough to make it bleed and leave a crescent moon shaped scar. Its a reminder for those who are ignorant enough to forget about recoil and glue their eye to the scope to "see better".
"Dont even think about being able to imitate her..?" "She was born for it?" "A genius in one word?".. Yes Ookuro sensei please go on with your fetish of superhuman lolis shooting snipers but get it the hell out of Full Metal Panic PLEASE!
This story has to be product of Ookuro Naoto only and Gatou Shoujis name is there just for credibility that it is canon.. There is no way Gatou wouldve put a fucking frill loli into the story as weapons expert..

So it looks like FMP with Kurz in main role.
I don't think we'll see the old cast for a while, at least in the forseeable future... As much as I'd love to know that they're safe and sound (and a stable couple with a happy life), I bet this won't be the case :/
Btw I'm not reading the LN, but I wouldn't jump to conclusions so fast, there's still only two chapters. Can't say it's "clichéd" or "boring"... I'm optimistic and intrigued
I'm still in love with this universe, but that's the only positive thing I can say about this; it seems to be running through the bad-generic-mecha-series first-episode checklist:
One of the reasons I liked the FMP anime was that it, at least at the beginning, unfolded quite convincingly within the constraints of the sci-fi universe it depicted (not counting the rom-com scenes, which worked, conversely, on account of their ridiculousness). There was a power struggle between nations and organizations in which we got to see the unlikely daily life of a mercenary in a quirky spec-ops group, which was a great setup.
By contrast, this is playing out like just another male power fantasy.

It's a wonderfull series. But I recommand you to watch the anime (2-3 seasons) then read FMP! Sigma, coz the first manga season is not very well adapted from the light novels.
I translate FMP! Another from Italian but I hope my initiative will help some English team to begin it.

even if you read french, this is an introductory chapter for settings and characters, need to wait for more chapters before giving an opinion
