Yeah there was a Korean drama, by the same name, based off of this one.

My sister watched that as well..... I listened to the plot line and was like "wow...... that's kind of stupid." In all honesty though, Many stories may sound similar due to influence from similar series or plain coincidence. Sadly some series have been plagiarized or copied from real life events, movies, or other mangas, and vice versa (except RL events of course). In fact, there was an instance where a famous series was copied only to have that copy also copied by another series.

Hey, I remember that there was a Asian drama (was it Japanese or korean?) that had the similar plot. Except that greedy backstabbing friend tricked the MC to travel overseas and sold the MC's house for $$. The the one who bought the house was a famous artist.
