The art in this is awful. Every character has the same face. Japanese editors not doing their job again.

Thanks so much for doing this! I attempted to TL this to read from Chinese a long long time ago but my language skills failed me. I'd recommend people who watched the anime still check it out especially since it includes stuff from the LN and side material IIRC and establishes a link since the anime switched writers early on.

I can't thank enought the team that worked in this! I love everything Fanfer related, and never thought I'd get to see this one around 

This manga is an adaptation of a relatively old (2004) original anime by Xebec. And so far it seems to be a very faithful adaptation, even character designs are the same.

As for the source material, initially it looks like an NGE clone, but this is not the case. Story, characters and themes are all quite different.
It's a really good action/drama/mecha anime, so you should check it out if you're into those genres. And the music, particularly OP and END, is mighty good.

Humm.... the guy looked like a girl in the beginning.

 

And this is a kind of... confusing narration.
