What is Brazil doing floating in the middle of the Mediterranean?

lack of sleep = retarded post. sry.

The only complaint I'd have about the story is that they couldn't come up with a better political setting than "A bunch of countries that totally aren't pale imitations of real-world empires and countries gang up against poor Japan, who survive using only their incredible courage and brilliant aerial tactics." It would be a great story just by having the invading countries be something different for once. Maybe another country of people just like them, simply separated by thousands of years of isolation and grown apart. Or having the countries be one empire of many countries, slowly grown together into a melting pot of cultures with one overarching goal.

I'm complaining about something pointless, obviously, the series is going to be what it is. Good art and plenty of potential for character development and explanation. It will probably be enjoyable. It's just disappointing to see another series fall short of its creative potential because it was easier to sell the "noble and oppressed country versus the greedy and envious world" than it was to find a unique source of conflict around which to build the story.

You are right. And applied to Japan's case, it's disturbing. There are many mangas that overlook that Japan (or in this case, Not!Japan) was far from an innocent, peaceful victim attacked by evil foreigners.

Then add a bit of the "Imperial Nostalgia" trope. Count in how many mangas or animes democracies are bad, or corrupt, or useless, while empires are noble, and cool, or at least efficient.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I also want to revel in how butthurt they are about having so completely and devastatingly lost the war. This is the perfect opportunity to see that. It's like that Argentinian cartoon about the Falkland islands.

Or the Vietnam War for the US. Every country is butthurt about some past war they lost.

It could have been like Last Exile but nope, the filthy gaijin invaders trope again.

Anyway, thanks /ak/scanlations for your work.

Yamashi Castle Country in the Sky

MUH RISING SUN

The poor Japanese cant just make a story where they WW2

Well this doesn't seem to be about bad guys/good guys, but I could be wrong.

Let me re-word it then;

usually its the antagonist faction who field giant airborne aircraft carrier, especially if the tech is not quite widespread.

Well this look promising.

Though usually the side with giant planes usually is the bad one.

fufu-ing externally

Fucking /k/ommandos coming through with another dank story.

Took off the [no chapters] genre tag, along with the [shounen] tag, since it's listed as a [seinen] manga on Baka-Updates. lol

Thanks for the release.   :batoto_024:
