Description: |
Sousuke is the class president, and is a stickler for the rules. Lately, he's had lots of problems. First of all, he's got to deal with his cute, but unruly, childhood friend Miroku. Secondly, they have a new transfer student, Enma, who claims to be from hell. Enma refuses to follow any rules but his own. Lastly, there's the giant, mysterious claw marks that have been appearing all over school buildings. With all this trouble going on, will Sousuke follow the rules or learn that sometimes there are more important things? |

My problem with a serialization would be that while the central conflict--free will vs. duty--is universal and interesting, the particulars here don't seem in equilibrium. Unless Souske's perspectives on propriety and social contracts were also given some credence, there quickly would be nothing for this series to be about (except hunting demons and perhaps the slow erosion of Souske's rule-sticklering).
A 1-2 volume series could have been entertaining, though. Maybe 3 to four times as long; getting to know the characters, and seeing their relationships fleshed out a bit more would be nice.
it was really good, I like it more than his serialized work
