In Victorian-era England, a young girl is rescued from a life of destitution and raised to become a proper British maid. William shares her feelings, but the strict rules of their society prevent their relationship from ever coming out in the open. Traditional class distinctions and rich, historical details provide the backdrop for this appealing romance.

Note: Volumes 8-10 are technically "Emma Bangaihen" or "Emma: Further Tales" and are mainly side-stories that focus on aspects of the story Mori-sensei couldn't cover during the original run of "Emma."

I don't know how many times I've re-read this manga anymore.

I can never read the "Alone" chapter without tearing up. The detailed scenes with just so little dialogue depict that feeling so well, I don't know how Mori Kaoru does it.

I really like when series does that, making detailed scenes that tell a lot more than the dialogue itself, and yep, it's pretty sad that chapter, and the cat was a true bro to Emma.

wow I really gulped this one down xD

I could read this comic over and over again. Would love a chance to buy the print books!

Crystal Palace of Dreams from volume 8 was such a great story about the sensei's romantic past. So bittersweet. Felt so nostalgic and connected to her feelings.

Amazing!

So much waifu material.  I <3 Adele!

Oh, and Mr. Mölders is one lucky bastard.

Well worth the read. One of the best manga I have ever read.

I really wish more of her work would be translated.

If you're afraid of the mature tag, don't be! There's really only a few pages in the manga wher characters bathe naked. No other mature content. Otherwise, if you want a good romance and love Victorian England, this is your manga!

This manga has one of the best finale I've ever read. Heck! I'm calling it a finale instead of an ending.

What a beautiful manga.

oh god. is victorian lady is that passionate? screw history lesson!!!

Spoiler

I read this manga about 4years ago and now i just kinda stumbled upon it brings back good memories absolutely awesome manga definitely worth the read

Seeing this reminds you of the advancement of the world  :)

Great manga, to be honest that was my first and probably the last josei manga i've read till the end. Everything was great art, story, character background, the only thing i can complain about is characters faces while i recognised and could distinguish them up to vol 10. chapter 17, in the new era after time skip (i dont know how many years passed but i assume probably 6) i couldn't recognise most of the servants, except the main ones. Still i recommend this manga to everyone, i'll repeat myself great....no, amazing manga.
this was certainly refreshing, the reactions and characters are so centered and real!!
this is some good shit!!!
Ch.17: Endless Days of Fun: 4-koma at its best.
Seriously why does every manga site have this categorized as "mature"? it has no mention of sex AT ALL let alone sexual themes, Heck it doesn't even slightly talk about anything slightly adult and There is zero violence or gore.

The only possible thing I can think of is the extremely tame and mild nudity on a couple pages. Kimi iru Machi has just as much nudity is not more and more graphic but some how it's not Categorized as mature?
@TRMshadow

Thanks a lot for uploading this!
Of all the manga I've read so far this has by far the best artwork and a good plot.
And from what I've seen when Onemanga was still operating as an online reader, Otoyomegatari keeps that kind of artwork up.

Thanks for the links to amazon as well - gonna buy them soon as I've got my finances in order <3
Also, I'm gonna' put off uploading Otoyomegatari seeing as its presently serialized by yen+ and I'd rather readers support that legally. Here's a link to buy the first and pre-order the second. Volume 1 Volume 2
This was licensed in the US by CMX (a sub-division of DC comics) and was completed, but CMX went kaput in May of '10 making the manga extremely hard to find [I've searched down and own the first 4 volumes myself, but I can't force to pay $30-40(USED, each) to buy the rest.]
