This got me to thinking. Since most shoujo manga are really nothing more than bloated heaps of filler trash, pretty much every shoujo series ever could be condensed into 5 pages, just like this one. A refreshing alternative to the crappy, manipulative and unearned writing style that has perpetuated the genre.
Good conclusion. I study Cultural science in Germany which also includes Fairy tales and canĀ“t add anything more to your conclusion.
The Fairy Folk/ Fae Folk/ Feenvolk includes most "magical beings" like Giants, Trolls, Fairies, Dwarves or Elves.
It is like the word Goblin, which in german means a certain kind of creature which in game terms known as Hobgoblin. But in the english sense it is a summary of a lot of types of beings.
Elves are often counted amongst the Fae folk in general (that is, faeries, though not necessarily the kind of fairy with wings).
A bit of prodding around wikipedia suggests that elves are Germanic in origin (e.g. Norse mythology) and Fearies were basically just a general blanket term for "magical creatures". At some point in medieval England "Fairy" came to refer specifically to elf-like creatures. However, the idea of faeries being tiny winged creatures only emerged later, in the Victorian era, apparently.
The concepts often remain heavily conflated in modern fantasy--for instance, one can expect "The Elf Queen" and "The Fairy Queen" to be effectively interchangeable.
However, directly forward-porting the conflation to the later Victorian idea of a fairy, as done here, is relatively rare.
So this story is about one of those who hunt elves? Hmmmm................
Damn, elf looks looks like the "realistic" Panty from Panty and Stocking.
At least one kind of Elf from Forgotten Realms D&D campaign setting has wings.
serious question for people well-versed in fantasy lore: what kind of elf has wings?
okay. one, short as hell, two, she feels more like a grown up fairy than an elf, and three, i'm undecided of wanting to read more since i feel it would be nice as a somewhat short story but it would be easy to screw it up if not done right.
