Spoiler

from what manga was that??

Thanks for all the chapters, many laughs were had.

Oh well, was fun while it was fun. Lost something without the dank memes imo.

Come back and troll more when you come back.

Posting here because I don't remember the login to the site, but we are dropping EG Maker. Many laughs were had, but I'm pretty much done with this. Ayase the primary translator is going to be gone for several months and I(Hartmann) will be gone for a while too. While Ningen and I can catch up to the latest chapters I just don't care enough to do it. Hope you guys enjoyed it because I sure did in more ways than one.

Spoiler

If I had known you guys would get so upset over people responding poorly to your sub-Commie attempts at humor, I never would have said anything. My parents taught me it was never okay to mock the retarded and I have let them down.

Salt is meant for food, not Batoto comments.

This series is hilarious. Translation is fine, and gets the point across. Hate the translation? Find another one from a different group or don't read it.

Anyone remember dattebyo fansubs, who put out early Naruto and Bleach subs many years back? They had a more modernized interpretation (slang/profanity) to what the characters talked about if it fit the characters. I remember when Crunchyroll picked up Naruto, and the early subs where a trainwreck. I remember an angry Akatsuki guy screaming at Naruto and co he was gonna kill them in the DB sub, which seemed appropriate for how angry he was shouting at them. In the crunchyroll, the same scene's dialouge had been muted to a bare bones, "I'm gonna beat you up, kid" or something pretty tame and lame. And they said darn brats constantly, which was awful. This seems kinda similar to me in that sense.

Granted, some of the fanscans on this might be over the top once in a while, but c'mon, if the names are right and they are conveying what the characters mean and polish it up a bit, no harm, no foul.

Now feeling dumb, even though I knew the chapters were trolling there was still a small fear they were going to continue the trashy translation on purpose or spitefully. Still, all of us salty dorks who raised voices and concerns got our come-uppance. Well played sirs.

Seeing all the people that don't give a shit about the scanlators rage here is just so great ^_^

Keep up the good work and don't sweat the small stuff.

I checked the NGS page and it seemed like the troll chapters were made just for Batoto. but what I want to know is what did Batoto do?

Edit: I checked back and you were right. some people got angry at chapter 8's translation lol and the troll chapters were made to spite them/us it seems

i see. so i suggest to every reader instead of wailing in the comment section why not open a proper thread and complaint about it? at least formally NGS team will explain why they did it

Well on the bright side they probably got picked up by the MF bots too.

well i be goddamn if MF bot doing it

remind of few manga where scanlator had to troll those MF bot to make sure the manga they scanlating didn't notice by DMCA or whatshit copyright nazi

and i know i does irk some readers, if does deter then kudos, but you know sometime it's futile against the like of MF

We have the approval of ku4eto, all is right with the world; no matter what, we are safe.

Okay, thanks for getting ahold of yourself. I am fine with unliteral translations, i know how hard is with slang, translating between English and Bulgarian has some of those too. What i am not fine is, trying to be funny by posting complete crap troll chapters, and expect something to change (when someone was mad that you translated it in way B instead of A). This was plain wrong and stupid. If you keep translating chapters, as they were translated uptill now (forget the troll ones please), i will gladly continue following you.

Please continue doing these translations, the way you do them fits the manga way more than a standard weeb translation would!

Ha. Reminds of Rapeman but 'try-hards'

some bunch of 2" idiot thinks highly of themselves start flaming a proper scanlators for the 2 troll chapters, probably

so i won't be surprise if NGS drop this manga hereafter

before i say anything else I wanna put out there that I am a translator but not one which is in any way connected to NGS. I actually translate japanese hentai and pornography which is why I feel particularly justified in giving a critique here lol

if you could read the raws u would understand how ridiculous you sound lol, They are taking things that cant be translated directly into english and giving us an appropriate substitute that allows us to understand what it means in a similar way as the japanese audience would discern it. In short they are doing what many people believe to believe to be a higher form of translation, what some call "localization". All translators do it to some degree, assuming they arent massive idiots. those who don't are the ones who sound like machine translators, I'm sure you've seen manga like that, where you feel a little bit lost as you read the manga as they have done a literal word-for-word translation. It's a cool concept to perfectly get the original source material, but it narrows the audience, meaning only maniacs (i dont mean this in a negative way) will want to read the material because it basically turns either into a lesson on japanese culture or into unintelligible nonsense. Alot of people want to learn about japanese culture, at least those who read manga, but you shouldnt HAVE to have it shoved down your throat to understand whats going on.

Anyways sorry I'm getting off topic its like 2 am

Most manga is written in relatively correct japanese which makes it pretty easy to translate, the same is true of japanese porn (in the start at least) when they start using slang though, a major issue comes out, which is that the fact that slang in japanese and english is fundamentally different, Japanese often uses a shortening via contraction of kanji, it's not something that can be directly translated without making unintelligible mess (its actually a lot easier to go the other way from english to japanese) the translator of this manga was trying to point that out but I don't think he did a great job of explaining what he was doing

Spoiler

The second one from the right is his translation the second from the left is a semi-literal translation, the kinda thing you would expect from a normal  translation, the one on the far left is the raw

While it's true the one from the second from the left is not exactly a bad translation, its lacking a lot of the air and feel of the original japanese.  It's true that the raw doesnt have words like "shit" in it, but that's because japanese doesnt use alot of cursing... in fact most of what gets translated as cursing is actually informal speech in an innapropriate setting (like what DOES happen somewhat in the raw)

ugh losing will to explain... no caffeine... well i'm sure some rager will reply to this when im more awake, but basically what the translator has done is in many ways more professional translation-wise than what you typically see in translation, and as someone who has to translate similar dialogue alot I can say he did a good job of capturing the essence of what is said rather than a litteral translation which makes little sense

tl:dr translator did a good job, don't hate if you havent ever had to translate japanese pornographic dialogue before. It doesnt translate well at ALL

edit: and yes i have the biggest **** because i wrote a mini essay

You and NGS are doing god's word, son. I salute your massive dick.

I speak french as a first language. I was born to french parents in a french region, went to a french kindergarten, got my entire elementary to high school education in french and I have a degree from a french university. my family, neighbours and friends, growing up were all french.

And I will tell you right now, when it came to learning English, blind idiot translations did not help (the "i'm a lazy fuck so I just threw it into google translate" method. or if you're an old internet man like me, the altavista babelfish). Nor did the literal translations help in actually speaking the language in a conversational tone.

This guy is absolutely correct that Localization is a higher form of translation as it brings not just content from one language to another but also better conveys the message of the content to the reader better then a word-for-word with some changes for clarity or context.

go read the first chapter and look at how intense Oorui is and how Yoshimi reacts to his words and actions... hell,  look at how the speech balloons aren't just fluffy and round, but sharp and jagged to show the character's voice is exploding. This isn't a simply discussion: Oorui is being very passionate and his words are shocking to Yoshimi and leaving a very obvious impact.

Now, as the quoted poster stated "It's true that the raw doesnt have words like "shit" in it, but that's because japanese doesnt use alot of cursing... in fact most of what gets translated as cursing is actually informal speech in an innapropriate setting (like what DOES happen somewhat in the raw)". and the reactions were drawn in those more extreme reactions to showcase what author wanted to convey beyond simple words. Now imagine if the original text was made in north america and looking at the reactions of the characters, do you think they would use that kind of language, or would they use the japanese's informal speech

Thankfully on the internet we don't really have japanese publishing standards and quotas to meet, so we can use whatever goddamn fucking dirty words we want if it fits the context.

and Oorui is a passionate man who works in the sex game trade, and since this comic is obviously an exaggeration of what i'm sure the actual eroge development process is like, done so for the sake of an entertaining read, i wouldn't be surprised that a man who's livelyhood depends on delivering raunchyness and wet dreams would have a bit of a foul mouth, especially if he's constantly overworked and stressed due to deadlines.

So yeah, you guys are doing god's work. Localization is really hard to do and I'm enjoying it as someone who had to learn english and works in a bilingual environment to earn their paycheck. keep on keeping on and don't let the haters drag you down. Some of us do appreciate the extra effort.

the usual 'casual' readers of batoto flaming scanlators, ohhh goodness in what world do i live in

I will just throw a wild positive comment for NGS among all the hate.

Keep up the good work!

what exactly happened though? I read the salty page but I can't tell if it's filled with the just readers comments or the translators opinions as well. did something happen?

Thanks NGS!

I personally don't mind changing the translations for it to be easier to read in english, I was part of a scanlation group before in the past and changing certain bits of the translation was an unavoidable part of the process. Yes, I was part of the translation team. Some things just don't translate over or sound ridiculous that it won't make much sense.

A series like this is already difficult enough to translate, kudos to the group for coming up with all this. It's nice.

Yep, guess I'm done with this series as well. I was able to tolerate some of the nonsense the translators put into it in the beginning, but now it's just become completely unbearable to even bother with.

It's honestly a shame, as I'd love to read the series with a proper translation, as the art and premise are interesting enough. Too bad NGS follows through on their name.

I really hope another group considers picking this up.

To everyone dropping this, good riddance, let the butthurt flow through you.
Also to NGS, keep up the good work. Half the fun is reading the wild translations.
