So, in other words
WINNERS DON'T DO DRUGS
I have to say, working as a programmer, that I have seen plenty of empirical evidence that people can smoke some marijuana and then function just fine at work the next day. I personally don't smoke or drink, but I don't think things are nearly as straightforward as you would like to suggest.
I think you are assuming a bit too much in concluding that legality is determined strictly by empirical observation and classifying of a drug's deleterious effects.
Remember, the U.S. did ban alcohol in the early 20th century. And one of the reasons few people talk seriously about banning tobacco, even those who would very much like to see it gone, is that we remember how badly that prohibition of alcohol went. Life isn't so simple as banning something and having it be gone.
The difference between Illigal drugs and legal is well if you smoke a tabacco drank a glass of coffee or alchohol and go to work you would still be able to function. but if you smoke some weeds or take LSD or something well i think you'll get fired soon after cause you won't be able to function quite well in work and it will be a lost in the company same with other situation smoke some tabacco and you couldstill interact well with people unless you did weeds and you'd be just lyiing down in your bed not doing anything again not really that much functional and the only way to not be functional with legal drugs is if you take to many for illigal ones well just take one and you won't be able to function quite well already.
I do believe he was referring to heroine/cocaine and the like, not marijuana. I don't think you need to look very far to find evidence talking about how dangerous those are.
I suppose you could legalize marijuana, so that scientists would be better able to conduct research on long-term marijuana use (and undoubtedly discover negative consequences). But hey, might be too late to try and pull it back out of the legal market by then.
Based on my memories of college, "Less harmful than tobacco or alcohol" is not exactly a strong recommendation :'p
More to the point, MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) is also guilty of starting with thier desired conclusion and starting backwards.
I don't actually care what anyone's feelings on drugs are, but learn how to recognize bias in scientific studies, please. "They're right so it's not biased" is the one of the most annoying and counterproductive fallacies of modern human thought.
show me the research showing they're dangerous. and not some bullshit from NIDA or the DEA which starts with a conclusion and works backwards, just like all the "tobacco is harmless!" "research" from the mid-20th century.
if you actually look into it, you'll find its quite the opposite. non-profits like MAPS (http://maps.org/) actually do study drugs and are finding them to not only be significantly less harmful than alcohol or tobacco, but have lots of medical benefits. even cops support legalization (law enforcement against prohibition - http://www.leap.cc/).
That's an isolated case. That is one officer using unnecessary force on a singular individual who was not discovered to be innocent until afterward. That is not "police... are murdering people for... legal drugs". Exaggerated sensationalism doesn't actually help anybody and Solidus should be ashamed.
Also relevant:
Quite unbelievable that an author who depicts all his characters smoking regularly writes this kind of bullshit. Tobacco is more harmful than marijuana and that's a fact.
I do think he is referring to the Eric Garner case.Or lack of a case I suppose.

"They are made illegal due to racism"
Are you fucking kidding me? They are illegal because they are dangerous you numbskull. Do you even learn medicine?
>prohibition directly funds terrorist
>funds terrorist
>terrorist
> u wot m8
Anyone else imagining the narrator from the Kaiji anime saying all this?
A-are we serious?
Oh this is almost as hilarious as the Cartoon all stars to the rescue cartoon!
so in other words, alcohol and tobacco are legal because our laws are bought by the highest bidder and nothing else. fact is, marijuana, opium, and cocaine have an even longer historical record of being used by humans than alcohol (proof of opium cultivation dates as far back as civilization itself), and they were made illegal due to racism and nothing else.
legalizing them, or at least decriminalizing would save lives and prevent money from going into the hands of bad guys. it would also allow people to get treated without the stigma and without getting locked up because they wanted help, not to mention the billions of dollars of tax revenue that would be brought in (the illegal drug market is the largest market in the world). legalizing would steal power away from the cartels and terrorist groups literally overnight as they'd lose their primary source of funding.
they were made illegal due to racism, but they're kept illegal due to bribes. there is no legitimate reason to keep such insanely harmful policies in place. its easier for children to get ahold of crack and heroin than alcohol because the black market doesn't have any age restrictions. think of the children!

(Would have been funny if there was a panel of someone getting high and just floating in a void of "zawa.. zawa.."s.)
lol, I didn't notice how Washizu LITERALLY has every single one of those symptoms.
You heard it from the man himself. Do drugs and you'll turn into Washizu Iwao!
