This oneshot has accomplished way more development than Masamune's Revenge could ever hope for, 10/10

Not anymore with the last chapter and the choice made by author.

Perhaps a suitable English translation would be, "Revenge unsuccessful — paid back with my own coin!" It doesn't specifically use the word "reply," but implies it through the idiom, which seems fairly close to Black Chronicle's translation of the Japanese phrase.

How about "What an answer!"

the english translation ends with "I was defeated again - Revenge unsuccessful!", while the italian version ends with "Revenge unsuccessful - Reply received!". Given that the title is "Desire for a reply!", the second translation seems to give a more coherent ending. Can someone take a look to the raw?

The original text says: "･･･リベンジ失敗！返り討ち。"
...リベンジ失敗! = ...Revenge failed!
返り討ち = Try to do something, but it being done to you instead (beaten at my own game, etc.).
On its own, the 返り can mean "reply", so I guess it's supposed to be a pun (I've heard NisiOisiN uses puns a lot).

It has again surfaced on the highest rated list. Just out of the blue it appears and the reminder and inevitable reread follow shortly. Its the most recurring one-shot I've ever seen here and has definitely been worth the revisit.
And it appears once again! It really is amazing the frequency with which it pops back up on the top list.

I didn't know when it will stop resurfacing.
Once again now in 6th March 2017 it has resurfaced again.
Isn't Nisioisin the author of Monogatari series.

Thinking about how this one shot could become a series, I picture the series being a Bakuman type thing, where the mc has rivals in his baseball career that he has to overcome to achieve some goal related to his relationship.
