Really, these aren't just greedy and ambitious creeps, they are horrible people the world would be far better off without.  And yet sadly, I don't find them particularly implausible as characters.

Depending what you're talking about, I don't see just how misplaced.

How unreasonable was what he said to that woman, really?  Far as kid him could figure, some woman was busting up his home.  Something wrong with saying "Yeah, tell her to get away from my dad"?  Even if there's no chance it will put things back, it seems fair enough to me.  How was a kid to know what bad news some of the supporting cast was?

The evil part in my mind want to say to him

"ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? IS THIS NOT WHAT YOU WANTED?"

Well damn, that was unexpected. 

Actually, I just re-read all of the previous chapters and it makes total sense.  It's been building to this the whole freaking time and it took re-reading everything for me to see it.  This is really, really good writing. 

This deserves more follows.  And for a .5 chapter, that seemed more like a pretty nice full sized chapter to me.

Yeah.  She's rich; no surprise.  Very few people are that nasty if they aren't rich.

Horrible things need to happen to her Aunt.  She reminds me of my grandmother.  Just a stone cold bitch all around.

The waste products methinks are about to contact the rotating blades.

It's been growing on me. Kind of builds the characters gradually; as you get to feel what makes them tick, they feel less annoying.
Plus that Lindsay is one fiery hot babe.

I think the dad probably beat up her mom really harshly. I almost feel like she never mentioned her cancer because it was an escape. Although it could be both that and what you said.
