From watching animes, reading mangas and other japanese stuff, I noticed that they like to shorten words so it is easy to say. I think this is one of those. One example is sekusuhara or sexual harassment, and there are tons more.

I was referring to chapter 6 in which Masaki's little brother asks Yuu which elementary school she was from. When Yuu said she was a highschool student it did a side by side splash of her and Masaki followed by the little brother expressing his pity for Yuu. How I interpreted that was the brother comparing Yuu to his sister who was of highschool age to his knowledge.

 

My thought regarding her faking her age to be in the same year as Yuu was she was a 3rd year going back to a 1st year class. Not to mention when we first met Masaki she was in a school uniform BEFORE she met Yuu and had enrolled in her class.

 

But again I also agree that it is possible she really is older but still in highschool due to her families situation.

That's probably the case.

We haven't seen this Asahi yet (right?), and I'm guessing that she's Masaki's classmate. So, her birthday is probably 1998, since Japan starts their school year in April. Thus, she's 2 years older than Yuu. One thing for sure, her birthday cannot be earlier than 1993 since she's the younger sister.

One thing, though. That event where she found that doujinshi was implied to be years before their meeting.

If anything, the manga repeatedly imply that Masaki is older than a normal highschool girl, so I would assume she's around college student age (19-25), since she:

1. Having trouble enrolling to Yuu's class (she probably had graduated).

2. Pointlessly asserting her age.

3. Having a much developed body compared to her supposed age.

1: That quality jump in the first few pages.

2: What age is Masaki really? When Yuu visited Masaki's family it did imply she was still legitimately in highschool but other times it seems to suggest she is older. Then again she might have had to skip highschool (as it is non compulsory in Japan) to help her family with their parents absence and was then able to go back to complete it after a while so really is BOTH in highschool AND older.
