good mangas pick up dust and subpar mangas get translated like there's no tomorrow, *sigh* this is life it dosen't fail to surprise anyone .

I wish I found out about this super cute manga earlier, also I hope new chapters will get translated soon.

No scanlations for this awesome manga? T_T

=BUMP=  This is a cute manga!  It'd be great to see more!

....Oh. Bartley. Baka-tare. A shortened version maybe? It seems like he only calls him Bartley when he's yelling at him, so it fits.

Heartwarming stories, best father, and women's emancipation at its finest lol. Any scanlations please...

It would be great if there was at least a chapter or two from more recent times if only to see things like art evolution or if the vibe of this manga has changed since the 80s.

Anyone wiling to translate cooking manga? It's already reached 1257 chapters!

Well, now we know why he has Popeye level forearms. He needs them  for this shit lol.

Araiwa was the original protagonist for Hokuto no Ken, but he saw that there was no good food in the post apocalyptic future, kicked the mangaka's ass, and moved to this series.

OMAI WA MO AGEMASHITA

COOKING PAPA IS JUSTICE

Thank you for another release, Bartley Scans!

One hour at 300C? I think those vegetables would be burnt. Especially when he used leaks and onions.

Miss Kimura wants the D(inner).

All joking aside, this is a fun series. I love how Araiwa is so strict at work but such a fun dad at home. Many thanks to Bartley for the scanlations!

One of the first mangas that put a female in the friend-zone. Unrequited love is a sad thing.

Mmmmm, mmmmm..........BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

one of the best father

People complain about how small shops have been driven out of business by the big concerns, but in Japan, where the small shops are protected by restrictive laws, you can see the price you pay in retail prices.  Agricultural protectionism doesn't help any either.

I thought the small shops had been taken over by large chains. That was what 20th Century Boys taught me.

1200 Japanese Yen for a whole chicken from before I was born? Even today a raw supermarket chicken in the UK/US can be had at half that price.

I was all for this roast chicken until the recipe called for margarine.

This really was published in the 80's.

It's still ongoing?, but wont the whole tone of the story have to change, since societal views are wildly different, or the whole thing kind of stays on a floating timeline??

Culture didn't change. It's different generation with some different thinking, but Japanese is Japanese no matter what you'd wanna say. I don't mean this in racist way either, no matter what race I am and what they did in past.

tl;dr It's a good thing, and it's a bad thing in some retrospect, but...

It's still ongoing?, but wont the whole tone of the story have to change, since societal views are wildly different, or the whole thing kind of stays on a floating timeline??

Why would the tone need to change?  The surroundings, the environment, yes, that has to change with the times, but the tone doesn't need to.  For an even more extreme example, look at Sazae-san, where the anime is *still* running after 44 years (and 67 years after the manga premiered, although the manga stopped in 1974).  Updated with Japan's wealth, and electronics, and cellphones, and all that, but still the happy-family story it's always been.

You're gonna have a long wait.  28 years and still running, and the tone hasn't changed yet.
