I think the reason the scanlator left it like that is because the "Hokekyo" sound is popular for Japan, as opposed to the canary's "tweet" sound.

Well we don't know what he's doing. He might just be a vampire for all we know, lol. Also the only reason he cared for the child is because of his personal goals which was mentioned.
