Ok, since I literally just finished reading all of the chapters, I have to say I absolutely hate it when people don't go back and review their own work.
No, no, I don't mean the translators, I mean the writer. The "guild leader" and the thugs the MC killed clearly knew about the old lady, they made reference to her within the first few chapters...
Edit: chapter one, page 11. "Where did Stella find this black haired goblin." (There are more, but I can't be bothered.)

Like I said,

 

Stella's ability is something like information manipulation by messing with memories.  Before she died she probably erased the knowledge of her existence from the villagers.

She's a spy for the Holy Empire which is the second most threatening antagonist in the series. I think she had a hand in summoning Yuu and eventually came to love him which made her start to suppress information about him in her reports. She has a magic ability that manipulates information and erases memories that kind of thing.

BTW, Nina is also a spy for the Holy Empire and a pretty fucked up individual.
I'm really hoping that after she betrays him she dies and Yuu forgets about her but I doubt that's how it will play out. At least Lena, Jospeh, and Marifa are legit good loving people for Yuu to be with.

Maybe Stella is actually a god taking mortal form to save Yuu and start the story. Most likely no, but There is certainly a mystery around stella that has not been cleared yet as of the last point I left the novel at since translation speeds dropped too low for me to read properly

damn. i really hope this gets more chapters - this series is really enjoyable.

So I started out by crapping on the MC about being a shit human... I have a slightly better opinion of him now. Also this manga is turning out to be a lot better than i expected so hopefully well get quite a few more chapters before the LN cutoff.
