I hope games like this become a thing when I'm in my 70s. It'd  be a great way to store the growing elderly population and it'll give me an option that's not the "take all the hard core drugs I avoided when I was young" plan I have.

Gotta say, the first half of chap 36 was pretty nice, but the latter half was a piece of crap.
Now that the MC has truly did everything he can to avoid the plot and destroy any path given to him, he truly begins to submerge in mundane activities.

really? last year i uploaded some missing chapters from Nobunagun that the previous (now dead) group forgot to upload, and i didn't have any major issues

And even if there are some classes that are "better" than others it's usually at specific tasks (raiding [sometimes specific types of raids at that], various types of PvP, leveling, solo farming, group farming... etc.)

 

And that's not getting into whether or not the game gets frequent balance patches which can easily change every one of those "best" classes around.

 

Now then, asking where Mankirk's wife is? That's much more appropriate.  In any MMO.

Way I see it it's not the author doing this but rather the game devs.  They are experimenting with AI (apparently), and, for whatever reason, the AIs tend to be attracted to the MC as a person.  Thus all the craziness in spite of the MC's continued wishes to just have a nice casual experience.  So to me it doesn't really feel like there's been much change in attitudes.  If anything, the MC has become a little bit more open to getting involved, like with the ramen stall owner.

 

Part of that is some unknown issue with the MC's own regrets, but it's not like he had any obligation to get involved particularly with what he views as a regular NPC in a computer game.  But that's just my own view, and other than perhaps to me, it's not particularly special.

Well hopefully we don't have a .hack// scenario where theygo insane after learning their purpose, connect to the internet, hack nuclear reactors around the world, and begin setting them up for meltdowns for global destruction because 'fuck you, and everyone else.'

So very true, I grow tired of kids who just start the game and flood the global chat with questions about, "What is the best class?", "What is the best weapon?". Some games don't even have this so called "Best Class".

Well, I didn't really articulate it very well. My sentiment lies with how much turmoil the plot and MC have seen. In short, the author did everything in his power to NOT allow the MC to have a mellow experience within the game,

The synopsis reads: "... Be it wasting time crafting potions, cooking up pointlessly tasty food, or hunting monsters with some absurd weapon he crafted, he simply enjoys playing the game." It doesn't have the Slice of Life tag fer nothin'.

Well, I didn't really articulate it very well. My sentiment lies with how much turmoil the plot and MC have seen. In short, the author did everything in his power to NOT allow the MC to have a mellow experience within the game, and persisted to throw legendary and extremely high-ranked mobs and NPCs upon him. It came to the point that I already accepted that the story is no longer about "playing casually", but about an action-filled story with unlikely encounters and unlikely victories.
And then the MC flips the author the bird, and just goes off to cook and gets really excited about the wonders of rice. Twas a bit odd.

It may sound a bit cynical, but tis how I see it, heh. I lost some of my ability to enjoy the manga because of how much the author tried to force his protagonist to do exactly what he did not want to do. Bullying your MC for comedy / plot is a desperate tactic that one can often see with clueless authors (Konosuba comes to mind...)
Right now, it feels like the author indeed tries to draw the focus back to slice-of-life, but we'll have to see how successful he is with keeping it that way. But at least we have PIkasha. :v

It still relevant actually. Some of his mindset when playing this game is typical "ossan". Heck, that is the reason why he sometimes goes all philosophical.

 

It does have bad cliche executions but...

 

-It's actually implied many times that outside of Archery, many other players had innovated their own meta. For example the HAND GRENADE, and the MUD FLAME. The manga just never focus on other players and their meta. Plus, it's not like MMORPG anywhere is not ripe with stupid players who just ask veterans for the best class/equipment/build and never innovates, even irl.
