There are shippers, and then there's people that have some text comprehension skills and understand why Chihiro is the perfect partner, independently from any personal choice or flavour.

Your post is mere virtue signaling and you clearly hate everything else not Chihiro.You are full of Garbage,cause you won't give any reasons for your views,thus not have any form of comprehension.

Chihiro was the reason why Elsie not only DIED but replaced by some Human girl to show how "Normal is the Best".

Chihiro was the reason why we never got to see important conversations by both Keima and the Girls post Goddess Arc.Cause the Trash Normal Girl was deemed more important.

Chihiro was the reason why we never got to see the conflict and Satyr play out.Cause Wrongthink was considered more evil.

Chihiro was the reason why Tenri Was shoved aside like trash.Cause we need that otaku to like Real for its own sake. Anything not Chihiro does not deserve respect no.matter what you say or do.

There's so many ignorant people commenting about their ships sinking or their OTP's not being recognized, as if they didn't understand the point of the series in the first place.

The Chihiro ship did NOTHING to axe TWGOK as that fanbase was already small in and of itself (go check the damn popularity rankings) and the ending came up at an opportune moment when the CLEARLY final ark had just concluded. Every plot point was wrapped up by the end of the Weiss Arc, and the author decided that dragging out a story that had already finished was not good for him or for the series.

And the worst part of it is that if another ship had found its way to the ending, there would still be complaints from other fanbases. The argument over who should be with the guy at the end is as pointless as it was in the Nisekoi wars.
And clearly the author had a better understanding of his own series than any the complaining party had. The Chihiro ending wasn't supposed to be the popular, expected, or stereotypical ending. The entire point of TWGOK is to be CONTRARY to standard Gal-game and Harem formulae. In this sense, the most "normal" and "real" girl was chosen as to further create that distinction between the fantasy, wish-fulfillment world of games and the less controllable, but more practical real world.

There was no harem ending. There was no overplayed childhood friend ending. There was no "SUPERNATURAL FANTASY END OF THE WORLD RESCUE MISSION" ending. It was just two people who met, talked, and then liked each other by chance with no real external plot point pushing for their relationship (considering Chihiro forgets the first conquest). This sort of happenstance love with no good explanation is much similar to how relationships form in the real world (more so than the other girls at least). The ending is even them just starting to go out and date and doesn't have heavy implications on whether they will stay together, get married, have spouts, etc. It's as good of an attempt this manga could get at making a "realistic" relationship for the "real" girl. Wakaki stayed true to his original goal/meaning to his work, and this (not at all surprising) ending is a manifestation of that realization.

Memory of my first love clearly showed that its was meant to be a passing phase,and ending up with Chihiro goes against her development. Screw you.The Chihiro shippers axed twgok.You are the worst shipping fandom of all time.There was soooo much to twgok,than just a petty otp.And you lowlives ruined it.

In rereading that chapter, I kind of see where you're coming from in that Chihiro's song is basically accepting that her love couldn't last. But... it wasn't really allowed to last, was it? It was interrupted by circumstances bigger than her or Keima.

Yes, Chihiro's song is one of acceptance, and in the context of a falling out or a breakup, it might have been the end. In the context of the actual events of the story, however, this acceptance is her coming to terms with the fact that Keima's work leaves no space for their love. She is accepting the circumstances, but there is no cessation of the feelings between her and Keima. That can't really be called a "passing phase."

What I get out of this chapter is: There's nothing that conclusively forbids them getting together after Keima sorts out his goddess business, but Chihiro has no chance at all until he manages to do so. The potential for their relationship was not ended by this arc. It was only (only, ha!) locked behind six extremely jealous goddesses. A far-off chance, but let's remember that our MC is the god of galge, and that his opponents are girls shaped by fate to fit exactly into galge archetypes.

We're both reading the same story here, and I don't think you're wrong, exactly, just looking at the other side of the same setup. This chapter set up two routes for the story to go. 1.) The goddess situation would never be resolved and Keima's life would forever be a world of 2D girls in 3D bodies, untouchable by true 3D or 2.) The goddess situation would eventually end, and the 3D world would be waiting for him when it did.

I think you saw it as more of the first, while I saw it as more of the second.

OK, now hopefully I won't get a warning like two years ago, but Keima's love for Chihiro was heavily hinted several arcs ago.

Memory of my first love clearly showed that its was meant to be a passing phase,and ending up with Chihiro goes against her development. Honestly, the ending of this manga just left me with a, "......... Oh," kinda feeling. It didn't strike me in any way whatsoever. The most emotional part for me was Tenri's heartbreak, which I honestly felt badly about. The ending otherwise was just kinda there. Chihiro does nothing for me and, while I understood the intellectual reason behind the pairing, it didn't feel very genuine to me. It felt more like Wakaki-sensei was pressured to choose someone for Keima-kun to end up with and he chose the "normal", i.e. non-supernatural one. Because reasons.

All in all it was a weak, cold-hearted ending, devoid of any of the humor or charm that made this such a great title to read. Disappointing.

Huh, so this series ended. I never thought it would, always felt like one of those never ending mangas. Oh well, I hope the ones who read it liked the ending. It never really jelled with me.

The Chihiro shippers are the worst shipping fandom all time bar none. How about the lore of the loose souls .How about the Elise pothole?How about Keima Declaring everyone not real like some Nazi level Racism. First and foremost this was a series of diversity and ideals and you ruined it. Why must the plot be absolutely butchered for the sake of an otp? What of the now meaningless memory of my first love?Must even Chihiros development be ruined? What did you so got out of your way to force this ending on all of us. You are the very first fandom to directly ruin a manga just for the sake on an otp. A world record.No other manga has this,I mean none at all.

found out about wakaki's new (current) work just today and though i'd check back on this.

honestly? i can't say i hate the way this manga ended; the author went out with two big middle fingers up to everyone's ships.

it only feels to me like the original overarching plot derailed somewhere because it didn't follow the "first girl wins" pattern. elsie developed from a somewhat airheaded sidekick/foil into an almost unnecessary character with a nebulous role in the story who was, really, barely cute (or even interesting, for that matter) in comparison to the series' other heroines. i think it's an honest shame that elsie didn't get much in the way of proper character development.

even still, i believe that the ending we got was the most fitting for the way the manga developed, and for keima.

Since there's still people whining about this not having a harem ending, ill repost this. i wrote it before the final chapter.

s long as i wont get a harem ending, i will support ANY ENDING.

Keima could also drop dead because Haqua writes his name off on the Death Note, and i will be sad but still ok. Still much better than a harem ending.

Moreover, TWGOK cannot have a harem ending, or better well yes it could if Wakaki wishes so but i so wish he wouldnt. The main theme of the story is galge vs reality, 2D vs 3D. In galge, you can have as many heroines as you want. You may collect them, in fact you are invited to do so. In reality, there are no heroines, just people that manage one way or another, one minute at a time, or just scrape by, and sometimes because of luck effort or chance they may hit the jackpot but in the end they all go to the bathroom to have a poop, and their poop smell like any other's, weird stuff oozes out of their noses when they have a cold, they curse the heavens when they hit their pinky toes on some corner.

This said, whatever this will turn out to be, all other ships supporters should be happy that they all got a fair chance till the end. The game was fair, and when it's over IT'S OVER, everybody shake each other's hands, exchange them jerseys and will be friends forever, their lives will still go on and maybe get ready for another match elsewhere.

Harem ending is the ending when the game is about to finish then aliens invade the earth and everybody dies. It's the cheapest move a writer can do not to make some children cry, because they like a fictional character more than the fiction itself. No one is bigger than the story, or well maybe in some crappy story where a good character totally overshadows everything else and steals the scene, but TWGOK is not the case.

The only way to respect a story is to give it closure. You must keep the suspension of disbelief and internal coherency as knitted as possible untill the end. If Keima lives in our world (with the exception of demons and hell and new hell and time travel and uhm some other irrelevant stuff) a world that retains our own moral codes, a harem ending is a grave violation of suspension of disbelief.

Dropped Years ago........, because my heart not ready, now I just finished reading this manga, its a good one, good ending, but deep in my heart I still hope this manga still continue.... I waited over 3 years to finish reading this series, and it was worth it.

I'm not completly satisfied with ending, but noone can make end satisfying for everyone. It felt somehow similar to jumanjis last scene.

I loved this series so much. Love the concept and the characters. Especially Keima, best MC ever. Sadly it went down hill somewhere in the middle. But it was saved from all the epic plot twist that I did not expect. Except the ending. Saw that coming and wished it wasn't. Based on Keima's character, he would have everyone's memory of him to be reset. His The Conquering GOD. He does not choose, he just conquers. That ending would have been more satisfying rather that the author's stupid hinted ending. Harem ending would have been okay too. And too the people that keeps on hating on harem endings, (1)this is a romcon,(2)galge more or less has a harem ending which is almost always consider the True Ending, (3)Polygamy is still in practice by the Muslims and it is also allowed by God in the Old Testament. The ending is sadly not satisfying like the epic beginning of this great manga. Rate it a 3 star because of that ending. Well, I already rated it a 5 but oh well.

Wow, I always feel so weird/nostalgic when I get to the end of a long-running manga. I guess it just feels like all the long-running mangas will just keep running forever. This one didn't have the same impression on me as, say, Love Hina or GTO, but still it was a fun ride. One of the few ones that I've read from cradle to grave as it came out.

I've had a few like that, but I know what you mean. I'm not so into this one, but I understand how if you were what it feels like. Manga that you jumped on really early, really liked, then watched more and more people discover it and come along for the ride, and then it ends.

A lot of manga go a lot longer than this one though. I wonder if I will ever see Berserk or HnI end for instance.
