I remember reading this manga around 2013-2014, at the time I didn't knew much about PreCure, and only around 14 chapters were translated. Fast forward a few years, I completely forgot about this manga, but started watching PreCure because I gave a shot to the mahou shoujo genre... After watching every season, remembering about the existence of this manga, seeing how many chapters were translated, and finally reading since the beginning again, was a pretty fun ride.

Not only the references are nice, but the story is pretty chill and fun to read through, I wonder what kind of spice the author could use from now on... I'm not the kind thirsty for "progress"/"plot advace", but since the last few chapters started a new year (in-story), is to be expected a some kind of twist in the horizon, Akina being shocked/amused/astonished by otaku stuff because it was her first contact with a lot of those things is very fun and chill, but at this point she's becoming more and more of a "expert", so probably less and less jokes like that can be done (now that I think, the author is already spicing things a bit, with the non-Akina focused chapters, but something about Akina herself also could be interesting to add).

My only true problem with the manga, even if it's just a minor one, is how the newer PreCure series still didn't debuted in Shinozaki's world, lot of references were made about HeartBreak (HeartCatch) and Slime (Smile), among a few older ones, I was really expecting the introduction of a equivalent of DokiDoki PreCure (the next season after Smile), or even maybe Go! Princess, one of the best seasons (also post-Smile), since a new year in-story started, it was something logical to expect (maybe it still is to come?).

Overall this manga evokes a strange nostalgia, I only knew Touhou by name and nothing more at the time, but nowadays I'm quite a fan, it was something fun to return to and read again with a new mindset.

Lastly, looking at the dates, it's already quite a time without new chapters, Comet Scans did a amazing job so far, hoping for the best.

Is Atobee a parody of Kenshin himself or a different character from his manga?

Seems unlikely, Comet Scans haven't uploaded since January 2017. Might be too early to call them dead tho, they seem to update kind of slowly. But they're way beyond the monthly rate they've kept so far with this series, so I guess they stopped.

Yeah, but they haven't updated any series not just this one. It's really too bad since they seemed to have a good operation going and had many reading their releases or so it seems.

Any updates on this?

This manga is pure gold.

I'm just waiting for the reveal that actually all of Akina's old friends have a crush on Makoto.

Fashionable otaku girl

Akina is really starting to accept the world around her lately

Spoiler

When you have to think about hiding your power level, your power level is already too great to hide.

Sigh; do I have to bring out the sock puppets for this one?

To clarify, you seem to be under the dellusion that I give a rat's ass about this whole affair.

I was criticizing how unlikable Akina has become as a character.

Had her brother remained as an undeveloped background character her abuse of him would have remained as mere slapstick.

However since we've been shown how her brother is a much better a person than she is. Her abuse comes out as sociopathic and sadistic. Making her an unsympathetic and unlikeable character.

Her double standard is something she's slowly getting out of. The two siblings repairing their relationship is clearly being set up as the secondary goal of the series.

It's very likely that I'm giving the author too much credit (it might really just be nothing more than slapstick in the author's eyes), but oh well. Mako's a nice guy, and Akina is pretty bigoted against Otakus, but it's sorta like seeing someone you love (yes, I think Akina still cares about Mako a lot) join a cult or become a criminal in her eyes. I do NOT think Akina's violence towards Mako is justified, but I can understand the reasoning behind it.

I'm still waiting for either Mako to stand up for himself or Akina to start seeing things from her brother's point of view. Whichever chapter comes first.

Akina is such a weird person by this point.

Was I the only one hoping for a tag team between Akina and Manly Lady Tsuki against the enemy?

Something like both of them working together in a Badminton or Table Tennis (Ping Pong) match against the Show's villains?

Doing a combination attack?

Sigh; do I have to bring out the sock puppets for this one?

I disagree, and her brother is not that good of a character either, what's happening here is that you guys are projecting your hatred of other female charactes that present similar characteristics, on Akina.

Spoiler

Ok, that is the most relevant advice Pure Autumn ever gave to Shinozaki.

*gasp* mouth to mouth in the next chapter?! No wai~

and soon... the bro dies from liver failure of being corkscrewed too much

Dude.

It's a light-hearted comedy manga about otaku with dashes of yuri.

Calm down.

I'm slowly but surely learning to hate and despise Akina.

It's gotten to the point where I can't dismiss her many and glaring flaws for the sake of comedy. Like her wallowing in denial, the way she still views being an otaku as a form of deviancy, her double standards. And the ireedeemable use of violence against her brother for no other reason than stress relief

Seriously someone who regularly inflicts physical pain on someone else just for her own pleasure is all kinds of fucked up. At this point there's no way the author can spin it that doesn't make her look like anything but a spiteful bitch.

And yet I'm still expected to like her?!

But then that would eliminate his very purpose - to resemble the stereotypical Otaku. In Akina's mindset (and it's quite apparent in many chapters), she falls into the stereotypes of how Otakus look like mainly thanks to her brother - why else does she keep imagining her/others looking like her bro?

So long as Akina needs a stereotype (which will be pretty much the entire series), her brother will exist as he is. And our respect for him can only grow - I've said it before, but Akina seriously does not deserve Mako as a brother, he's way too good for her selfishness.

What makes it worse is that througout the series, the author has gone to great lengths to show us that that idea of the stereotypical otaku only exists in Akina's head. Time and again we've been shown how nice a guy he is. Yet she refuses to accept this, because she's convinced herself that she's superior to him in every way. Having to acknowledge his good points could mean having to acknowlege her own faults, Like being a vapid violent bitch.

It also makes her look like a rabid man hating lesbian.

Hurm, wait I get it now! The real hero(ine) of this story isn't Akina, it's Mako, that's who I should be rooting for.

.... i want to kidnapp michy.... no reason. Truly not cause she wore catears and looks so damm freeakign adorable.

I would take good care of her.

Give her 3 meals and snacks.

Lots of games.

And an extrem powered gameing rig ...

She might actually coem to me ... let's look out the window.

"MICCHHHYYY!!"

q.q tioooo cute!!

The gimmick and slice of life in this is starting to grow old on me. I get that this is supposed to be a celebration of otaku culture or whatever, but I joined and stayed for a lesbian love story that hasn't budged an inch since chapter 1. I'm frustrated. Save me.

Hm, yeah, it definitely could use some advancement otherwise Akina's shtick could get old.

Pleasant chapter, though.
