forging IDs will only get you so far if you stand out in public like a sore thumb.  I've seen magical girls with better disguises.

the new girl is go annoying ugh

If only his mask was like Hei’s and the other party was Misaki...

Oh look, annoying unwanted love interest that will cause complications to Kidnapper's plan to live with his girl? Nope, he quits his job just to avoid being around her, and even made sure she couldn't follow by having a wrong address. Lovely subversion. Best chapter.

Spoiler

Just an innocent thought, when will her bruises go away?

If you look at the cute colored pages at the beginning of each chapter with sachi and kidnapper-kun, you can see her bruises and injuries slowly healing with each chapter~

"Sachi" must really have been socially deprived.  It's as if she thinks her kidnapper's attempts at "falsifying happiness" isn't a common and necessary part of any relationship, let alone hers.

Because they are.

Seriously, even if you put kidnapping aside - he's basically acting like a regular boyfriend/lover who tries to comfort her and give her peace of mind.

Not totally clear what you mean.  Which isn't to say that I disagree, exactly--I'm not very good at spotting the subtle stuff, so I'd genuinely appreciate a bit more detail.

He's being manipulative, but I'm being fair and allowing that he may not realize how manipulative his actions are.

Maybe the guy doesn't realize it but he IS actually being very emotionally manipulative.

I don't know how the relevant laws work in Japan, but isn't it entirely possible that the authorities would side with the parents?  Probably even likely they'd side with the parents

Indeed, this manga seems predicated on the idea that society ignores this kind of thing. Japan has some child protection efforts, but I can't comment on how effective they are, nor on how they compare to those in other countries. From the manga I read, I probably don't have a representative impression. :P

Does anyone know what the text in the book she held was? Was it the lines he said to her, or?

I'm not usually one to suggest changes or solutions to conflict in fiction... but it seems obvious that Sachi and Kidnapper-san should just wipe the camera, burn all the photos, and insist that Sachi ran away with him willingly if they get caught. Why? Shit parents.

It's a win-win, even if he gets a misdemeanor or something for not talking to the proper authorities. Of course, it would clearly erase all the ongoing problems and trivialize the entire story, but I can't get it out of my head every time I read a chapter.

how old is the guy?

If I had to guess, I'd put the guy in his early 20s (22-23ish) and the girl in her mid-to-late teens (16-17).

There's a lot of growing up that happens in between those years so it speaks to the difference in maturity between them, even if the age gap isn't super large per se.

That's some flag right there.

Well, that was dark.

I agree, it manipulative. I get so confused when he speaks, especially this chapter. I wonder whether he’s intentionally fishing for confirmation that he’s doing the right thing or not. Additionally, I’m almost certain most of his motivations are selfish

Can this actually be called kidnapping?  Certainly he apparently intended to kidnap her, announced that he was going to kidnap her, so I guess he's guilty of attempting to kidnap her.  And that certainly leaves this unsettling question of what was in his head at the time.  But she agreed to go with him, so he never actually took her captive; if anything he's more aiding and abetting a minor in running away from her legal guardians (and in this case, like, good for him).

Doesn't matter.  She's still a child and not old enough to make such choices on her own.  And I mean that in a legal sense, not a "muh feels" sense.  Parent filed the report as a kidnapping, police are investigating it as a kidnapping, and he had the intent to kidnap her.

Maybe the guy doesn't realize it but he IS actually being very emotionally manipulative.

This is probably going to end terribly and with me regretting ever reading the series in the first place, but I'll reluctantly keep reading on the off chance it will be end happily.

I wonder if Mr. Fake Kidnapper is going to be put to use.  The two of them stage evidence that he's the "real" kidnapper, her Onii-chan calls the police, and the police come to the rescue while Mr. Fake Kidnapper Creep goes to prison for the crime of kidnapping Sachi while Mr. Onii-chan is hailed as a hero.  It wouldn't be too strange if the two of them stuck together afterwards.

That's the best happy ending I could come up with using the current threads in the story.
