Some clubs search to enlist him as they see in him a force they can use to get even with other clubs. But Maeda is a loner and has only one dream: becoming boxing champion. His first objective is to beat the leader of the boxing club. "Rokudenashi" translates as "good for nothing".

Masanori Morita's (Rookies) first serialization, and a true Jump classic.
More focused on gang warfare than boxing.

Fun fact: The character designs for Hiroto, Ebihara, Matsumura and Ishimatsu are based on the members of the Blue Hearts. Hiroto is singer Hiroto Komoto, Ebihara is guitarist Masatoshi "Marcy" Mashina, Matsumura is bassist Junnosuke Kawaguchi, and Ishimatsu is drummer Tetsuya Kawajira.

oh fuck, this actually got picked up by a semi-major scanlator? I never expected FA start working on it, figured it'd be Hokuto no Gun if anything. Hope you guys can keep releasing this, I friggin' love this series. So manly. So good.

I see, I should have checked that before, So Onizuka's was purely part of a wider mid nineties cultural context. So Fujisawa the hack that he is, was likely inspired by series such as this, or a similar shared popular culture?

Well, I'm not big expert of Onizuka, but this theme of school wars and etc was pretty popular at that time (I think), and if shonen was shaped by DB, Onizuka perhaps was shaped by similar predecessors.

Onizuka just started to be published when this manga ended xD

150 chapters! Great anniversary! Thanks for translation!

Why are there so many suplexes in manga, short of being a good way to break necks, is it the "Legacy of GT Onizuka?"

Hooray! Final of great fight! Thank you guys for speeding things up! Really appreciate it!

As someone who's read Holyland (and if you like these fights you should read it too), all I can say is breaking his arms and legs will JUST MAKE HIM MADDER.
