You're falling in the old scientist's routine, you only keep yourself within conventions, prefer to not change the status quo, instead of properly analizing things once it goes outside what's deemed as truth.

As for the specialized proteins, i'm sorry but if that were true, then that would never explain why they have to reproduce or "feed" on other's organism, they do so because they are imperfect, unstable, it's pretty much like a corrupted line of script turning a file into a computer virus.

Yeah they will have to change their outlook on what is a living being IF necessary.

Otherwise the discussion will continue forever, unless they find a new point that can be used to defend the argument that Viruses are merely proteins.

Until then, "yeah, viruses are just non living proteins" or "Viruses are a new kind of living being" are both very valid arguments in their own way.

However, that is not a consensus yet.

We're getting more and more into air gear territory

At least Air Gear was still fun to read as it devolved, this has never reached anywhere close to the same heights. I'm really disappointed, this artist-writer combo has produced a lot of quality work but this doesn't even feel like it's in the same stratosphere.

Metropoliman is right. Red's incessant moral grandstanding, idiocy, and nonarguments is sickening. Even the most shounen-esque heroes can usually manage an emotional rebuttal to the villains rhetoric. This cuckwonder can't even do that.

Probably one of the biggest beta MCs I've seen. Just shoot him with one white arrow you fucking pussy holy shit all that shitty boring dialogue and still nothing happens.

Platinum End had a very interesting set up and what I think a decent job of setting a grand scale plot, dilemma, and emotions of the different characters in their quests to become God. I can say, however, that the delivery has hit a sudden style without substance problem. Also, I'd say it's suffering from way too much exposition during what should be actual tense moments and instead making them fall flat. All of the character build has become unconvincing and tedious as hell to the point I found myself cringing in this last chapter.

I applaud the author trying to illustrate the continuous internal conflict of the characters. But there seems to be no character build up. Where they should be learning or growing a bit by now instead they keep this overwhelming and unrealistic optimism in the face of literal murderers. It's almost to the point I have no want, desire or have any faith in him ever playing an important role in being God.

I will most likely come back to reading to see what happens in the future but will probably space it out to save myself some grief.

Ch.20, which just came out, was probably supposed to be "exciting", but the action was ridiculously drawn out, unconvincing and very difficult to follow. Most importantly, I just cannot care for the story or any of the characters.

Definitely agree with this. Throughout my read, I found myself remarkably surprised by how little tension I felt in this life-or-death situation. Stakes can't be higher but nothing feels urgent. The characters are cardboard cutouts in the case of our current crop of villains or mouthbreathing morons for our heroes, regardless, I care for none of their fates (with the minuscule exception of the cancerbro.) The lightspeed death-on-touch action is frequently paused wholesale for multiple panels of mental one-up-manship, and it just doesn't mesh with the sense of urgency the situation and action demands. And throughout all of this, aren't our heroes running on two straight days of constant physical and mental stress with zero sleep?

Anyway, the Ohba/Obata duo is competent, but IMO little more than that. It's not as if their previous works were masterpieces.

I think that their best, most interesting and most relatable work is Bakuman, which suffered from getting milked way too much and becoming stale.
