They cleaned up the translations. However I prefer the first version of p42, I think "I'll treasure you" works better than "I'll take good care of you"

Yep, they announced the end now. I'm pretty late to see it though.

The manga 'Ore Monogatari!!' will officially end on July the 13th, the last chapter will have 100 pages. *sob*

Every time I reread this, I see new things.  (And there's damn few manga where I could even say something like "Every time I reread")

This time, in ch. 3 after Takeo jumps out of the burning building, I never really noticed before that while Yamato is hugging him and everyone else is crying, Sunakawa is standing behind him matter-of-factly putting out Takeo's burning clothes with a slightly irritated "This kind of thing again" expression.  Or maybe just a frown of concentration.  Either way, I just lost it looking at him.

I think it's concentration. But, yeah, just another day making sure his friend is ok.

My boys, I have never understood the feeling and sense of strongly supporting a fictional pair of characters, or any character for that matter, until I read this manga.

This manga is always a joy to read, it is more than vicariously living the experience of wanting to be with a loved one, I think that this appeals to our human emotions is supporting the connection of two people who are just right for each other.

I think most of you could agree on this.

When update it will be?  Not to jog anyone's elbow, but this is one of the awesomest manga on Batoto, and . . .

It doesn't surprise me that the translator isn't very experienced with English - there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, and it's pretty much what I already speculated in my previous post. I have nothing but praise for anyone who puts their heart into truly understanding a new language and culture, no matter what their level of proficiency is.

 

But I believe that's the reason most groups have editors. It would be terribly unfair to expect someone who is experienced in language A but not very experienced in language B to accurately convey fine distinctions (like in Ore Monogatari, or any other manga that are primarily about communication and feelings) without the help of someone who is experienced in language B. It would be like trying to listen to an orchestra through an iPhone on one side, and a paper cup and string on the other side... no matter how good the iPhone is at capturing all the nuances of sound on one side, a paper cup and string can't turn that into anything more than the general idea of a sound on the other side. But a team of someone who's experienced in language A and someone who's experienced in language B can explain the nuances to each other, completing the circle.

 

I apologize if pointing out that there are mistakes made you feel like I was saying the translation is a failure. It's not, not by any means. (That was actually why I started off by saying "If you don't actually want an answer that's intended to be constructive criticism (but might hurt your feelings), please don't open the spoiler.")

 

There's nothing wrong with making mistakes, even a lot of mistakes, because you can never learn unless you're free to make mistakes and then find out how to correct them. Mistakes are something to be proud of. They mean you're willing to try new things and become a better person.

 

The only things that are shameful are when someone is so afraid of making a mistake that they refuse to try anything new, or when someone is so afraid of making a mistake that they refuse to admit or learn from the mistakes they make. And neither of those applies here.
