Thanks to this Manga, I'm addicted to "Flyday Chinatown".

Wow. I started reading this manga because 1) it's by THE Akiko Higashimura-sensei and I'm desperate for anything she created right now, and 2) because all chapter titles are references to Arashi song titles (no one cares!), and well, The Great Higashimura-sensei didn't disappoint me. I don't know how can she make manga that is crazy, stupid and weird, but beautiful and moving at the same time.

Please someone let me meet her.

I don't remember the exact details of Jin-sensei's art career but has he done anything else successful? If not, he's totally a one trick pony. He just so happened to be lucky enough to score big with a beautiful model; meh.

And Picasso my ass; being an artist doesn't justify anything; can't use that as a means for having affairs. It's like saying "I'm a comedian, I can be racist and offending; and it doesn't matter because it's just for laughs and once again, I'm a comedian"

This reminds me of something . . . I'm Canadian.  There was this Canadian poet named Irving Layton (actually close to and a mentor of Leonard Cohen), known for womanizing and so forth despite being married.  Apparently at one point when his wife got mad at him for his philandering, he said "Damn it, woman!  I'm a poet!"

For real.

Are they sure that his success is not from the fact that he's painting a supposedly amazingly beautiful woman and it's nothing beyond just having the technical skills to put her beauty on a canvas?

None.  None at all.  Heck, he's barely pretending to string the girl along.  He's so confident he seems sure he can keep her kneeling at his feet just by going through a few of the motions (albeit with a certain arrogant panache).  So far, he's right.  Heck, his self-regard seems so intense it's hard to say how much he'd even care/notice if she gave up on him.

This so much. I didn't mind him being Izumi's object of infatuation when he wasn't around, despite knowing he was married already, but seeing him be this arrogant.... its a bit intolerable. I'm just waiting for the moment Izumi tells Jin to fuck off(and I don't even care if its because she fell in love with Aku or not) so I can see the stupid look on his face.

Hmm... so this is how it feels to hate someone enough to kill them.

Just picked up this manga. Had a ball with "Grannet" xD

As for the rest of the story, I have to say that I doubt the professor has any intention of leaving his wife.

Scumbag professor truly is scumbag.

Pimp teach is awesome.

As for the rest of the story, I have to say that I doubt the professor has any intention of leaving his wife. The feeling has been with me since chapter 1.  It's jumping to conclusions but I feel as though this is a situation where the guy is just in love with the prospect of having a lover and just having fun with it. Look, the wife is handling this guy's finances; is he going to be alright without his wealth? He'd be a great host for sure. What makes matters worse is how she is so emotionally invested

Grannet is pretty impressive.

Lol, thank goodness the translations have those footnotes, otherwise I'd never get these Granny gags. x'DD Thanks for the chapter!

Glorious.

Personal preference:  Another example where I feel translation doesn't work and a japanese word should stay, maybe with a little note.  When she says "straight man", well, I don't think there's actually a Japanese term that exactly means "straight man".  I have a feeling she said "Tsukkomi", but I'm not really sure.  I mean, the Boke says the stupid stuff, but actually sets up the punch line rather than delivering it, so in that sense could be considered the straight man.  So I'd be happier if the word was left as whatever it was so I can be sure what was being said.

Now that I think about it,

Spoiler

I completely lost it at 'the sound of falling in love', but obaa-chan's antics were even better.

Wonderful chapter.  Too short, but :D :D :D

This manga is pure gold

This is hilarious as expected.  One thing that makes it work is that on top of being beautiful she's so sweet and vulnerable--she appeals to that protect-me instinct.  Gives her that Marylin Monroe double-whammy of "Need to take care of girl, make sure nothing can harm her--and then f*** her brains out!"

Although except for being in middle school I actually feel like I'd go more for the hardass kid.

subliminal--yeah, I remember that.  I answered too, but I can't remember where either.  Guess well catch it on the next update.

Wow, found this 6 months ago realised it was treasure and tentatively followed it in the hope some group would one day pull through and pick it up again thankyou, thanyou, thankyou Habanero scans you chilli shaped angels you.

Looked at the description, thought "I don't need to read this".

Looked at the mangaka . . . Higashimura Akiko.  Wait--Kuragehime's mangaka?!

I need to read this.

I know I asked you a question about abandoning a poor series somewhere the other day, but for the life of me I can't remember where.

this is just too good

This series got an update, today is a good day.

Yeah! I thought it would never continue. So happy to be proved wrong.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful.
