A lot of live video/Twitch/Youtube-casts don't feature the broadcaster themselves.

Actually I'm surprised how many of them do. It seems like if you're even remotely popular viewers will demand a facecam, even if all it does it take up screen space.

The listeners doesn't really see them doing things, all they can do is imagine it from the sounds.

 

Which is why on pg 12, left bottom panel, she says "I'm cutting the mic" and not "Video".

 

 

This is different from video/ skype calls (unless without video) and different from Twitch, which most times uses cameras to show themselves.

 

Think of Live Broadcasting as a Amateur Radio show.

Not so different, just different culture.

A lot of live video/Twitch/Youtube-casts don't feature the broadcaster themselves. Its partly for anonymity purposes but its also because the focus simply isn't on the broadcaster. No one wants to watch the facial expression of someone sketching an artwork or someone who looks away from the camera because they're so used to knitting without looking.

Hopefully this comes out quicker.
