Sato Tatsuhiro is a drug-addled "hikikomori" (a Japanese shut-in) who thinks a sinister organization, NHK (Nihon Hikikomori Kyoukai), is the cause of all his problems! He falls in love with a girl, Misaki, who he thinks is trying to assassinate him, but doesn't know how to talk to her or if he can trust her. The more he stays in his house watching anime porn, reading manga, and doing drugs, the harder it is for him to leave. Only Misaki can keep him from rotting away in his own apartment!

Guys, I still don't get what Misaki meant in chapter 36: "What I truely want is... "

What did she meant in there?

This is really depressing
To me it just feels like a flawed ending. But to be fair, this is a flawed story, with flawed characters in a flawed world. Kept reading looking for a way point where they all would be saved, or something more dark where they kill themselves. Instead, i received a spoon full of reality: these characters are as scared of living as they are from death, so they will just keep going on, trying to convince themselves that they are doing okay. In the end I can't decide if I liked or not this series, I just know I dont regret reading it, and that it somehow deserves a special spot on my memory like every other series I've read

Uhmm so i try to read this because of pure curiousity .. but where is the turning point of this series ? it seems so many flaw in the end ... the anime was more good though ... didn't understand about the ending ... it seems like suddenly everything was going fine ..

Madness. A spiral of despair indeed; a spiral that ascends to a new light

This Manga is terrible... I think the whole idea of the series is just dumb. And the characters, especially the MC, are just not that likable. Prolly why only 11 people have commented on this series here. Just not that great. But no matter how awful I think a series is, there is always those select few who love bad series. Shows just how different everyone is... Just because the series is inspirational doesnt make it good. I would bet that many people only kept reading this to see if the guy gets the girl at the end. And again, that doesnt make a series good. The ending isn't great either. but this is just my opinion... There is a reason there is only 11 comments besides mine (2 from the same person) and no negative reviews... Its simply because it wasn't worth their time. Many people do not take the time to write a comment for a series they did not like. Comment sections do not need to be all love fests for a series. Its always good to see opinions from both sides. In the end I just found this series to be dull, overdramatic, drawn out, and unrealistic. It just annoyed me.

We don't need comments to validate a series. If the discussion turns out to be quite shitty, then I'd rather there be less comments.

This manga is complimentary to its novel and its anime, adding elements that both the former and the latter lack. The manga plays more into the hand of dark humour and depicts all of its characters as a bit more manipulative and selfish than it does in the anime. It's not hard to appreciate and enjoy a sense of depth of characters, no matter how warped and demented.

And for a bit of tit for tat, I find your taste to be quite awful; a sentiment I'd imagine others can share.

It is really quite different from the Anime, but equally awesome. I need to get my hands on the novel somehow.

This is so chaotic and confusing at times and as I write this I'm still not sure if I agree with everything depicted in this manga, but it was certainly moving. I could relate to the main character if only for his impassiveness with life and how he kept avoiding life. I'm not a complete shut-in like him, but it's only after looking at the extreme end of this sort of life that I can truly appreciate what I have.

I hope I can improve like Satou did... in a less dramatic way of course, but I want to be able to become someone who can smile at his life and will never forget his friends.
I really liked this, too bad it had to finish. T-T
The plots within the novel, manga and anime are each rather different from one another, and many themes and personalities differ between each. The novel also regularly mentions drug use by the main character, and later, his friend, Yamazaki.
I just love rereading this series, if you enjoy this mang I highly recommend you read the LN as well. If you don't know Japanese you can buy the english version in Amazon or Rightstuf
